I delete spoilers to GoT, if you're wondering why I deleted your comment.

I assumed it was a false link, can you make those here? I'm new to fj but not the internet
User avatar #15 to #14 - vorarephilia ONLINE (04/19/2014) [-]
I don't really know how, on fj at least. However, all puu.sh links are images. so no screamers. If it was a shock image like goatse or something, it usually get's thumbed down.

If you visit this site you will see that it is a fake link, and even though it ends in a .jpg, It can be decieving.

However, note that it did not form a direct link. It might still be possible, but I wouldn't know how.

I agree. You can't just take out a whole ******* character. The fact that Clarisse was taken out entirely pissed me off the most.

I don't think it's possible to like that movie if you've already read Eragon.
User avatar #99 to #86 - sanguinemybrother (04/19/2014) [-]
I am still hopeful that someone will pick up Eragon for another movie attempt at some point, the casting was **** , the story was ruined, the whole thing was a ******* insult to the books.
User avatar #101 to #99 - fishinyourface (04/19/2014) [-]
the thing that amazes me is that the author was right there to approve the movie....I don't know exactly how **** went down but I used to read a magazine for kids and it mentioned an interview with the author and it said he was excited to turn his book into a movie....how did he let **** go so wrong?....
User avatar #114 to #101 - ninjabadger (04/19/2014) [-]
He wanted money, it's the only rational reason for letting that train wreck hit the screens.

I was so disappointed in it... I really was. So much wasted potential... it's near impossible to fix the image of the series if you made another movie...no matter how good it is.
User avatar #131 to #114 - sanguinemybrother (04/19/2014) [-]
I think it was such a flop honestly, that if they re-released it as "Inheritance" it could work but it would have to be good obviously. How the **** can you kill the Ra'zac in the first film? they were still in book ******* 4 and were a major part of the story

I always read the books before watching the movie because movies are a terrible medium of storytelling and has made me not want to read Percy Jackson and Hunger Games, even though they might be good books. The only exception is LOTR

Imagine watching Empire Strikes Back with friends, and then they all discuss what they think will happen next. Even though you own Return of the Jedi. Instead, they want to watch Return of the Jedi one year from now, in once a week ten-minute segments with dumbed-down dialogue. And they spend the entire year in between speculating about it with you standing right there. That's what it's like to have the read the books, and it's agony, my friends.

Pic related.

This.
It's so hard when all my friends are like "I love how Arya and The Hound are like best friends now, I bet they're gonna go around killing people together" and I just have to sit quietly. Then someone is like "Anon, you've read the books. What happens with them"

And then they get pissed off when I'm like "Yeah you're wrong she still hates him and he dies soon"
User avatar #98 to #65 - megavoir (04/19/2014) [-]
I hate the "ooohhh what happens?" "i didn't want you to actually tell me!"
#109 to #65 - junahi (04/19/2014) [-]
Dude, you realize you just spoiled something to others too? And they might have not even want it. (don't worry, I read wikia so I don't care about spoilers, but some people seem to.)
User avatar #133 to #109 - namnori (04/19/2014) [-]
They chose to read it. Not my fault
#134 to #133 - junahi (04/19/2014) [-]
My point is, you could had delivered your point without spoilers.

Like: " "I love how that guy and The other guy are like best friends. I wish neither of them dies, EVER" and I just have to sit quietly. Then someone is like "Anon, you've read the books. What happens with them" And then they get pissed off when I'm like "Yeah you're wrong they start to hate each other again and other guy dies soon" "

I mean, you could had just simply spoilered the names... Anything.
User avatar #135 to #134 - namnori (04/19/2014) [-]
It's pretty obvious who it is because of how everyone thinks they're besties now
#136 to #135 - junahi (04/20/2014) [-]
Bron and Tyrion, Bron and Jaime, Jaime and that hulk girl. And really, you could had made some chars up just to make your point..

Seriously, do you not understand what my point is or are just trying to keep this talk going?
User avatar #137 to #136 - namnori (04/20/2014) [-]
I understand your point I just disagree. There was a huge hype about how Arya and the Hound are best friends now because of one scene - people would know who I meant
#138 to #137 - junahi (04/21/2014) [-]
I still think you don't. Like I said, you could had made all scenario up, not even talk about someone being someones friend... Or talk about something that has already happened in the show for exmp, red wedding / robb and his new gf.
#34 - theseustheminotaur (04/19/2014) [-]
I think spoiling shows for people is tacky and pretentious. I try to build the show up and add to the shock of the scenes that are going to be the most shocking, I find that is better. I played up the importance of the union that the red wedding would have to the war effort of Robb Stark to my friend who hadn't read the books, and how that is important to stopping Joffrey. That way they were really horrified with the way it played out. If he asks me what is going to happen, I shrug, or mislead him.
#52 to #34 - jazzytheferret (04/19/2014) [-]
Generally when everyone asks me what happens in a book or show I always respond with "everyone dies" just to be a smart ass. I'm not sure what to do regarding GoT
#57 to #52 - theseustheminotaur (04/19/2014) [-]
That is a very good point, I always say that when I walk in on someone who is watching a movie or show that I haven't seen before.

Once a kid I didn't like was taking the piss out of my haircut so I told him to stop, he didn't, I remembered that he liked Game of Thrones so I spoiled everything. BTW this was pre red wedding, like season 1 and I went through to the last book with this. Needless to say he never spoke to me again. Then at a later date he said "Why would you read the books? It spoils the tv show?"

Okay lemme see if I follow your logic.

You say that the purpose of telling people they've read the books is to prevent spoilers.

If they've read the books, how could they have things spoiled? Even if the show changes things, it's still not relevant.

The point is to ascertain who has read and who has not read the books so that one can chat about the books without spoiling it for someone else. Not exactly rocket science bud.

You're missing the context and what this is aimed at entirely.

This is aimed at the people who insist on telling you they've read the books when you bring up the movie or TV show. They often bring it up without asking, annoyingly so. I've been around those people, I've been that person myself.
