I never post content anymore, but it seems like it's way harder to get content thumbs now than when I joined. My first post got like 1600 thumbs, now I'm lucky to get 200.
Im here to make you feel bad, I've posted 6 times as anon and all times its gotten over 1600+, you have to know if its funny and most importantly post it at the right time of day not when all of north america is sleeping
I hope you don't mind me asking but could you possibly help me with that? As in what times are best? I've never posted much in the way of content (just lots and lots of comments over the past decade or so) but I've been hoping to post something here in the not too distant future and honestly it's kind of important. I could go into more detail if you want, or not, that's fine too. But any help would be greatly appreciated, this means a lot to me. Thanks for your time anon.
I was the same way. Then for the past 4 days in a row i've been top ten and 1st each consecutive day. Its pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Hell my new post i didnt even mean to get thumbs and im already at almost 300 in 7 hours. Just gotta put yourself out there and you'll get it eventually. But really dude good on ya! I know how cool it feels. I can tell you'll post more good content in the future.
A few years back we rescued a bunch of baby snappers who were being targeted by a bunch of birds. Also, there was iterally no pond anywhere around there.
Pic Related; it's the little ******* .
That kind of crap kind of happens to me a lot. You have no idea how many damn times I've been to the humane society to turn in hurt animals and **** . Ontop of that, I've hatched a robin from an abandoned egg, and a dove from an egg I nearly ran over with my lawnmower.
seems like I just end up finding litters of flea-infested newborn kittens that have to be bottle fed and stuff, wouldn't know the first thing about caring for baby birds or turtle hatchlings - but I guess if I were in your position I'd find out in a hurry, lol. Good on you bro, world needs more people like you in it.
Well, for if/when you graduate to felines, I strongly recommend a dawn dish soap bath and thorough drying to remove fleas, and when bottle-feeding, kitten-sized bottles and milk replacement formula can be bought at any Walmart, Target or pet store. Small syringes with no needles can work as a substitute bottle in a pinch.
You can also use goat milk (we do a mix of both), but not cow milk because they are lactose intolerant and it will give them diarrhea to the point of being life-threatening from dehydration. Also never feed them on their backs, because the fluid can go into their lungs and cause respiratory infections which are usually fatal.
They have to be fed at least ever 1 to 3 hours until they're old enough to begin eating mushy solid foods, like canned food or soaked kibble mashed with a fork or pureed in a blender. Once they get teeth, normal canned cat food or kibble works fine.
Also make sure the umbilical cords are fully removed from their bellies, or they can become badly infected - sometimes it's too late if they've already hardened rather than falling off, in which case the best hope might be a veterinarian.
The same all holds true for puppies too actually.
It's time consuming but well worth it - bottle baby kittens (and puppies) grow up to be by far the most lovable, clingy little things you could ever imagine. c:
Turts are much easier to take care of. Just go down to your local petstore, and get the recomended food for the type of turt you have (Blood worms tend to be the usual for me), and put in a few at a time. That and a leaf of lettuce tends to work well.
However the hard part is brushing their shells, especially if they're snappers. Brushing isn't entirely necessary, but it keeps them clean, and a whole lot less smelly.
Baby birds are the worst; they have to be kept in the incubator for roughly the first few days or so, and they have to be fed every half hour for a week. Again, the food varies from bird to bird, but if you have a rescue or rehab center, try to call them before the egg is even hatched. Both times I've hatched a bird, the center was closed for the weekend.
I've also hatched lizards, but those are a different story entirely, because they're pretty independent for the most part.
I was swimming in a lake in ontario once, paddling towards the dock. Two meters out I realize there was a 2 foot wide snapper RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. My mother and all of my relatives proceeded to point and laugh as I tried to get the hell out of their, the goddamn turtle on my heels, and my brother laughing and scooting away on the paddle boat.
I still can't go swimming outside without thinking about it and keeping an eye out for anything that can take more than a fist sized chunk out of me...
Turtles are always wondering out of the pond by my apartment. I've seen a few that got ran over by cars, so I always carry them home whenever I see one.
