The shoulders alternate between left and right movement as he walks forward, but if you reverse it, the order just alternates and the motion can still appear "forward". In the original GIF, the camera pans to reveal the people in the back, farther away from the camera's focus point. Therefore, when the GIF reverses, the camera pans closer to the wrestler's side and it looks like the camera is effectively moving backwards, when it isn't really. The two combine to just create a strange effect where it looks the same both ways, primarily because the camera pans and the motion still appears the same when alternated. If you could see his legs, you'd know for sure it was reversed, but because you can't, you just base it on his shoulder movement.
