TLDR: Insecticides are killing bees. Who knew.

I love how the commentators are like "omg, insecticides killed the bees. Duh, EPA and agriculturalists". They have absolutely no idea how different insecticides work, anything about entomology, how different insect thresholds are to different types of chemicals, or the numerous different reasons why there is a decline in bee populations. It's not just the neonics used in higher than recommended doses, it's also varroa mites, nosema fungi, deformed wing virus, and the fact that there are fewer and fewer open fields with a wide variety of heavy pollinating flowers and the ones that bees really like are ones people spray with roundup because they look weedy (clover, dandelion, thistle). If you really want to 'save the bees', plant a ******* garden, load that ************ up with swamp milkweed and as many other asclepias as possible, echinacea, monarda, agastache, and some pervoskia, and fill a birdbath with marbles and water in a non-windy spot. If you have problems with aphids or some other bug, do what REAL experts do - use the IPM method - Integrated Pest Management - and start small and as ecologically balanced method as possible to solve the problem and if that doesn't work, go a little more aggressive.
tl;dr - DO YOUR FREAKIN RESEARCH BEFORE YOU GET ON YOUR HIGH HORSE!
