Literally one of the ways to be a good liar is to be charming. It is a fundamental way to improve lies. This fact is sense no make.
User avatar #35 to #4 - defeats (09/25/2015) [-]
I was going to say that too, the main part of being a good liar is how you compose yourself.

psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2015/02/12/differences-between-a-psychopath-vs-sociopath/ psychopaths are born that way where as a sociopath is made that way by his surroundings

they're right upto now about how mental illness-speak is rarely politically correct.
It kinda sucks when you're mentally ill yourself.

Okay so from what I gather Sociopaths are more of a developed, enviromental and circumstantial diagnosis, however Psychopathy is genetic, chemical imbalance...

TL;DR: Psychopaths will plan to kill you and follow through with it, sociopaths might fantasize about it but might only be pushed into killing impulsively. But both still lack empathy.

As a person with Borderline personality i'm fascinated with mental health conditions

psychopaths may actually care about things other than themselves, all those with mommy/daddy issues for example. Sociopaths are literally incapable of caring about anyone or anything other than themselves.

No, no, a sociopath wishes he was a psychopath. I should know, I'm not charming enough to be one.
#8 to #4 - anon (09/25/2015) [-]
Yeah, except psychopaths ARE better liars. They experience few of the biological signs of stress seen in people who fail polygraphs. If someone is successful in lying, then they're better at lying than other people, regardless of WHY they're successful.

You realize that somebody completely pulled this fact out of their ass, right? It's subjective as hell. This "fact" is NOT consistent with clinical psychology. It's more like a stupid action movie character description.
User avatar #49 to #8 - privatepumpanickel (09/25/2015) [-]
well I know you're right about them being able to pass lie detectors. Forgot about that

Are you implying that there are people who have spent there lives becoming experts in the field of telling koala finger prints from human ones?
#7 - anon (09/25/2015) [-]
The thing about psychopaths is NOT true: it's a theory, not a fact accepted in psychiatry. Psychopathy is still a very heavily-debated topic in the psychological community. Most "facts" about psychopaths are ideas, not accepted facts. Some argue that psychopaths and sociopaths are the same; some argue they're different. Some argue that psychopaths are often psychotic. Some think this or that. The fact is this: psychopathy is still a huge ass mystery to psychologists.

Besides, "charming" is a subjective term. The DSM-V is more specific and uses more concrete examples. We would say that psychopaths are good liars because they lack a conscience and thus have low inhibitions and can confidently commit crimes.

But even that is up for debate.
User avatar #27 to #7 - malachitecobra (09/25/2015) [-]
"theory"
no, it's more of an idea, or a hypothesis if you will
in the scientific community, a theory is something that has been researched and supported by several different evidences, each tested multiple times by multiple people
thusly, a theory is often the truth
User avatar #58 to #27 - sakagamitomoyo (09/25/2015) [-]
I would like to add that a theory still can be disproved or reach the higher rank of nature law. A nature law is a theory with sufficient evidence to believe that it is the absolute truth (although it is worth mentioning that nature laws has been disproved too)

So what youre telling me, is that the secret to perfect crimes is using a koala instead of your own hands?

would be kinda cool. i bet genghis khan woulda done it if he could
User avatar #21 to #19 - masdercheef (09/25/2015) [-]
Not sure if there are many practical ways to do it but certain neutron stars, called magnetars, have such a powerful magnetic field they could (hypothetically) pull the iron from your blood from several thousands of miles away. So what we really need is a big magnet.

The selfie one is false

I believe the first photograph ever was taken out of a window at some nearby buildings and in the process some guy walked by. It is very hard to see the man because the exposure is over something like 20 or 30 minutes, but the guy walked slow enough and stopped in one place long enough that you can make out a person
#53 to #25 - anon (09/25/2015) [-]
Indeed. He wasn't actually walking slowly, he was having his shoes shined. So in fact that first photo of a human includes two of them It was taken in 1838.

Slyly calling themself extra charming sounds like something a psychopath would say...
