Well of course one of the least donated things is one of the most needed. If they had an excess of them it wouldn't be so needed

"One of the most needed"

Food and Water are probably among the most needed, along with socks
They're among the most donated
Socks are not
Your statement would be correct if those things were not consumable
It's not as if once the food is donated, they no longer need food

Yeah, but food and drink are the biggest thing that we have an abundance of and we throw them away, when they could be (and probably are, in some places) used to feed the homeless with the leftovers people and super markets throw into the trash. That's probably why food and water is the most donated, since we have an excess abundance of it, and around 1 3rd of it goes to waste.

Yes, that is reasonably obvious.
I'm not mystified as to why this is the case.
Just stating how it is.

The way I see it, people always donate used shirts/pants when they get kinda messed up. Socks however are usually worn till they are thrown out. so basically only new socks get donated.. and that's far less often than used goods

Personally, I buy socks in bulk occasionally if they are on sale in a local super market and then proceed to donate over 80% of them to charity.
