They don't; all traffic is regulated by the NSA, including vehicle operations.

What the **** ? Just get normal cars with 2 pedals. You don't need 3. That's ******* stupid. **** stick shifts. **** cars with clutches. Make that **** automatic. So much better.

Anyone can drive automatic, driving stick is actually driving.

wait wait , does US cars have just two pedals ?
User avatar #24 to #13 - omenaaa (01/15/2014) [-]
Most drive automatics because they don't have the brain capacity to work 3 pedals.

Are automatic cars really that scarce in America that manual cars are considered foreign and wierd to them?
User avatar #83 to #79 - hemming (01/15/2014) [-]
You do know scarces means insufficient, right?

I prefer to drive stick, because I'm an 18-24 year old male who likes cars, but the level of snobbishness in these comments is astounding.

Unless you're driving a sports car, manual transmissions are more of a hassle than anything else. Even sports cars are switching over to semi-automatic transmissions these days, because they're faster. You're not going to score any cool points for having a manual transmission in your Hyundai Lunchbox. Automatic transmissions make driving easier, and that matters a lot for the majority of people who have to commute significant distances every day. That's why nearly everyone here in the US uses automatic--we drive a lot.

And just because "that's how Europeans do it" doesn't make it superior. We tend to hero-worship European cars here in the US, but the only good ones are the expensive ones (and they are very good, don't get me wrong). But the rest of them--the cheaper family cars that normal people actually buy--are mostly **** . That's why they all have manual transmissions. The best one is probably Volkswagen, but even they are notorious for being costly to maintain. Japan and even the US (in recent years) do a much better job at making regular cars.

Is that why asians are considered bad drivers?

No, real drivers use Two pedals.

The clutch and gas pedal, and the E-brake for emergency braking.

I consider my manual transmission to be a good anti-theft device.

If you can drive stick, I'm not too worried about you stealing my car.

Probably a stupid question, but how in the name of Jeremy Clarksons' pube-like hair do you overtake someone in an automatic? I mean, with a stick-shift you usually go down to a lower gear, so you can accelerate better, get to the left of the ****** , floor it and overtake. How do you do that when the car regulates the gear? Is there some "overtake" button or something?
User avatar #108 to #53 - karson (01/15/2014) [-]
almost all automatics downshift when you press the gas enough. it basically assumes you wanna go faster and downshifts for you.
