This one is on Ebay. The way I think to best modernize it is to make the buttons smaller, raise the side pockets and remove the buttons; the most work would be on the cuffs. Shorten them and pin them down without losing the angle. It'd be a cross between a formal jacket and a parka.

My favorite jacket would be from The Grand Budapest Hotel. Willem Dafoe's character, specifically.

That is where the peacoat sort of came from (the layout of the buttons would suggest it). From what I can tell it's combining a parka and peacoat together. Honeatly I can see it trending. Thow a hood on the collar, make the whole thing waterproof.
