"Why don't you dance" is actually incorrect too.
"Why won't you dance" is correct.

"Don't you dare" is correct, but not because it was correct to begin with. Only because we have grown to accept it as being correct. There are countless examples in every language of strange constructs that have managed to pass by unnoticed by the grammar police throughout the years.
