So Cute

I don't think that doberman should be alone with that kitten. He looks like he wants to take a bite out of it but gets his **** together because his owner is there.

Well, they did if you kick them hard enough.

not really bro. I know you're both tryin hard to be edgy so I'm sorry to interrupt, but I've rescued dogs who had been abused, including getting kicked, because the jackasses thought physically brutalizing an animal was a good alternative to just training or disciplining it when it did something they didn't like.

A dog's yelp or scream of pain really is nothing like that funny noise that little white fluffball is making.

Sincerely, the old shelter mutt we adopted that was starved and beaten as a puppy who would in fact cry out if you as much as raised your hand too fast near her because she had learned that meant she was going to have the **** beaten out of her. Took her ages to get over that, like legitimate puppy PTSD.

im not trying to be edgy, but you seem to be right, so yeah, nvm, he is wrong

ever been around a schnauzer? that's a fairly normal noise my mini makes, he likes to make noises at random
User avatar #43 to #10 - Dember (09/19/2015) [-]
You know I've met several, but only ever lived with one (also a mini) and not for very long, she was my cousin's. She was a rescue and had a wonderful disposition though, got along indiscriminately with everyone. Never made a sound like that. Kinda wish she had, I'd have loved to see the reaction from our other dogs, lol
User avatar #46 to #43 - renespar (09/19/2015) [-]
Mini Schnauzers are generally more likely to do it in groups, like one will just randomly throw his head back and howl, and the rest join in because.... no one knows. generally you can also trigger the reaction by making a sustained higher pitched noise (like the guy in the video) or replicating a howl
#49 to #46 - Dember (09/19/2015) [-]
I have a German Shepherd / Timber Wolf mix pup who howls any time I do, so I get what you mean there.

It always baffles me to hear dogs that aren't even huskies or malamutes howling - or trying to, though, lol.
User avatar #54 to #49 - renespar (09/19/2015) [-]
well, most dog breeds have wolf in them, it's just that in some breeds it's expressed in unique ways
#55 to #54 - Dember (09/19/2015) [-]
Yeah, nah. Wolves and dogs are two subspecies of the same animal - Canis lupus, and Canis lupus familiaris.
Hence why they can crossbreed without producing infertile offspring, since they aren't even true "hybrids".

Meaning all dogs are a "type" of wolf. It doesn't mean all dogs are "part" wolf, though, such as being a wolfdog that was bred back to an actual wolf to exhibit wolf traits.

Many dogs do have overlapping traits shared with wolves though.
I definitely wouldn't call the one in OP's video much of a "howl" but it's a funny vocalization all the same.
User avatar #56 to #55 - renespar (09/19/2015) [-]
while you almost certainly are far more right than me, I don't say "part wolf" I mean more they had a common ancestry, my understanding is the modern wolf is the natural progression whereas the domestic dog is a wolf that has undergone millenia of guided breeding, to exaggerate certain traits of wolves. Simultaneously not all dogs have wolves as their ancestor, since certain continents/countries have domestic dog breeds from them despite a lack of wolves.
User avatar #57 to #56 - Dember (09/19/2015) [-]
Actually there is a more recent study that strongly suggests that dogs didn't "come from" wolves, as was originally believed - but rather, that they both descended from a common ancestor that is now extinct.

But yes, all dogs did evolve from the same origin, because all dogs are the same species / subspecies - whether it's a poodle or a great dane or a chihuahua. When you mix two different dog breeds, it's not called crossbreeding like it is when dogs are bred with wolves. Just two types of the same animal.

However, some breeds, even the German Shepherd, were cross-bred with wolves to originate as wolfdogs just 100 years ago.

the more you know ~

I had a plan with unlimited data talk and text and If I payed the bill 5 days in advance 5 times in a row they would make my phone bill 5 dollars cheaper. I got it down to 40 dollars and I decided I needed a new phone. Mine was old and froze a lot. I got a new phone at the store and a month later I see that that dumb bitch who set my new phone up changed my plan to 2GB data and unlimited text for 43 dollars. WHAT THE **** . I GET CHARGED MORE FOR ******* LESS LIKE A GODDAMN IMP

I love dogs (I am bias towards short dogs unfortunately, I don't like them. Real dogs are big dogs.)

But i found myself watching a vid from collegehumor pretty much telling me nearly all the things wrong with every single dog 'purebreed' and i was sad.

Its college HUMOR. Not Feels...
