Should people be allowed to openly abuse others in a "friendly" environment? No. Facebook is not like funnyjunk, it's a mainstream site that people use to communicate in a non-hostile environment. Also what that actual **** , who thinks laughing at abuse is ok?

I don't like what some people say, but I defend their right and my right to say what we like. I know FB is a private company but having an odd sense of humor is a really questionable report option. Who decides whether or not laughing at a man who got convicted for murder or rape is tasteless? Who decides whether or not a woman who is being made fun of for being a feminist or fat or whatever is tasteless? These kind of broad and unnecessary report options open the door for censorship.

There's a boundary between free speech and hate speech, and whilst I'm all for a discussion there are definitely lines you don't cross, ie: mocking the death of someone's family member, threatening or inciting violence against someone.

Hate speech is a concept designed by bigots to censor others. Hate speech simply just doesn't exist. The only kind of speech there is and should be is free speech. Who defines hate speech? If the progressives do, then you can't ridicule women, minorities, or Muslims, but you can ridicule men, white people, and Christians. If the conservatives do, then you can't ridicule God, the Bible, or guns, but you can ridicule atheists, liberals, and global warming. Hate speech is the most bigoted concept I have ever heard of. It's all about who is calling the shots.

Hate speech is speech attempting to incite a tangible form of harm against a person or group. It is almost universally recognised under the golden rule Do to others what you would have done to yourself ;) , and is a staple of civilised culture. What some people seem to want is a system in which no one ever takes offense to anything, yet people are allowed to try and offend people, which is stupid.

Well, I'd rather have people tried for doing a crime rather than maybe possibly going to do a crime or trying to get people to do a crime. Like I said, it's all about who is calling the shots. Hate speech doesn't exist. It's a bigoted concept, designed to be intolerant of other opinions, regardless of if those opinions are all racist, sexist, or judgemental on other arbitrary qualities.

Almost anything, there is of course a few, very, very few, exceptions, like saying "BOMB!" in a plane or "FIRE!" in a theater, anything that will probably cause harm. In fact, there was a Supreme Court ruling in the 60s (I think) that states that saying that kind of thing is not protected as free speech, and I completely agree with that. Why do people's opinions need censoring in the first place?

People are entitled to their own stupid opinions. Locking people up for that creates martyrs. If we locked up some radical feminist for saying that, it would be catastrophic. In this age of great access to information and freedom, I don't think we have to worry about another Nazi like situation happening again, at least in the West. Let people shout their ignorant thoughts and let it die out. Don't create martyrs, and don't punish people for speaking, because that dimishes your own right to speak.

iirc there's a declassified report that a man BELIEVED to have been Adolf Hitler was spotted disembarking from a U-Boat somewhere in Argentina a couple of weeks after the war ended. Of course I doubt he would've lived for much longer as he was afflicted with Parkinson's by that point.

An accurate portrayal of history is always important. If he really did go into hiding he could have lived as long as into the 80s. Yeah hes obviously dead now regardless of what occured, but who knows, if he did get away he might have done some crazy **** .

Remember this guy turned a struggling country into the technological powerhouse of the world in just a few years. If he wasn't so hellbent on wiping out the Jews and taking the fight to England and Russia he probably could have won the war.
