I'd say it's a cruel way to do it, but it's a good result. Of course these people are allowed to have their fandoms and be who they are, because this is what makes them happy, and noone should be denied something that makes them happy (except if it makes other people unhappy (inb4 murder)). But by showing them how they are being concieved by society, they can be made to realize that 'fitting in', isn't being untrue to oneself, it's simply following human socilization-patterns, and this will allow them to give better first expressions, then get to know people, and then they can reveal their true selves, at a stage where other people will be comfortable around them (inb4 murder).

It's like your introducing people back to society and rehabilitating them. Good work.

you are doing a good thing, you are pretty much handing them a safe environment to say "hey dude this is what you look like" and this helps them become more self aware so they can better blend into society and not be so obnoxious. it makes them realize "hey, this isnt how normal people behave i probably need to change so i dont look like this" this will help them be more social and expand their group of friends to a wider range

I don't think this makes OP a bad person, in a way it's kind of like holding up a mirror and saying "dude, look at what you've let yourself become". Maybe it gives them a chance to step back and be like "Wow, do I really look that bad?". When they realize the truth, they finally take steps to correct their behavior and lifestyle. Either that or they care more about keeping OP as their friend than their fandoms and habits, and respect OP enough to tone it down a bit. And before anyone says "Oh they should be allowed to enjoy what they want" that is true, however we are talking about cringeworthy habits, not just slightly odd.

You're doing the work of Heroes, OP.
I am a Brony. And I do NOT shove it down people's throats, I do NOT advertise it in public, I do NOT collect the stuff, and every time ponyfags come along to bring in the negative stereotype on me, I want to freakin' murder them.
I love you.
Thank you so much.

I want to thumb you up a million for this.
But it seems my brother already beat me to this content and thumbed it up already, so now FJ won't let me do it because of the stupid "IP Address" rule.
Freakin' FJ rules...

Heres the problem with you. With everyone on FJ. There is a collective "Were different, and we don't give a **** attitude" from almost everyone on this site. You have furries, gays, bisexuals, bronies, weaboos, otakus, etc, etc. My point begin you all claim to not give a **** about who you are, and what you do, and you preach that anyone can do as they please. However, the minute someone else has a different lifestyle that suits them and makes them relatively comfortable, but you don't think its normal (on a side note, I ask you to define "normal") you rev up the engines and strt blasting them and demeaning them. The sad part is eventually it becomes a bandwagon and you gang up on the group and treat them like **** . Only seeing the terrible parts to exploit and cause a bad image instead of also the potential good aspects of that person or group. Its called an "iceberg" you only see the very small good/bad top and ignore the bottom or let the top influence the rest of your opinions on the bottom half. Take bronies for example. the raw facts are that you don't like, even loathe them, to the point where a lot of you don't even accept them as human beings anymore. This is because of a life choice they made that makes them happy. You see grown men enjoying a TV show originally meant for little girls with a fanatic devotion, who will do anything to convert you to one of them. You consider them "autistic", which I guess means you don't know the definition of autism either. and group them all into the group of people who fit the look of "neckbeard, fedora(A.K.A. trilby as its properly known) wearing basement dwellers. I can tell you that this isnt true either, you all just get so caught up with making sure you fit in with everyone else and hate them because its cool. A lot of them are really good people, a charity was placed for a young man who attempted to commit suicide for being bullied because he was a brony and its raised over $60K now. all for one child.

I do tend to keep my ponies to myself, and I'll more than gladly admit that there are many bronies I know that I avoid. They just seem to have an air of awkwardness around and I don't see how or why

This is exactly what happened to me. Me being the cringe-worthy one in this situation.
User avatar #273 to #269 - settlwlvs (02/08/2014) [-]
You know, you don't have to stop liking the show or hide the fact that you enjoy it though. Just avoid being... annoyingly/ aggressively obsessive about the things you like. Someone who is head over heels for any topic and never shuts up about it can be cringeworthy, regardless of what it is.

These things that are admirable when not flaunted can also be quite cringeworthy: working out, getting good grades, being in the military, having a specific talent, owning a car, or even getting into a certain college. Just remember that humility and moderation of topic makes a world of difference.
#25 - twilightdusk (02/07/2014) [-]
A lot of people seem to be taking this as the "cringe-worthy" people renouncing their habits.

I think it's more likely that they just took it as a hint to not mention it around OP anymore because they know he'll make fun of them.
#381 - atrocitustheking (02/08/2014) [+] (21 replies)
I don't know, man. You may have spoiled something they really enjoyed for them. Maybe they were assholes, but 4chan ruined two things for me, and I struggle to watch/read them to this day. Which pisses me off, because I had a lot of fun with these two things.
Once you've shattered that glass, you can't put it back together.
Basically, leave folks the **** alone. If they're not physically hurting anyone let 'em have their fun, I say.
#135 - zzforrest (02/08/2014) [+] (1 reply)
At first I was kind of pissed, because I thought you were saying "Your ideas are wrong, stop liking things" and after reading the comments, I quite like you. I have my fair share of ****** up fetishes and things I enjoy that I really shouldn't, but I'm not socially inept nor do I own a single object or piece of clothing corresponding to my fetishes / guilty pleasures. I realize that your message was "Like the things you like, but don't make people uncomfortable because of it". I like you.
Here, have an apple.

**cjfj rolled a random image posted in comment #499715 at Friendly ** The saddest part about this is that these people need to be shown how cringe-worthy they are before they realize it.
