The thing is, your goddamn teacher isn't supposed to call you a fat **** . It's unprofessional and abusive. Your teacher isn't even supposed to curse at you. When your friend does it, that's one thing. For a teacher, an adult in a position of authority, to do that to a minor, that's awful.

Because honestly there is an element of self-control that you must exhibit. I'm all for ridiculing people whom claim an unhealthy lifestyle should be accepted by all (Society); hell I'm all for openly mocking anyone that would prefer to venacular rather than the problem (i.e. fat-acceptance, black live matter, etc.) But when it comes to shaming someone whom has done nothing to deserve it- like a quiet fat woman/man eating a piece of cake and minding her own business or a gentleman wearing the 'degenerate starter kit'- should not be ridiculed openly. You can judge them, which is perfectly natural, but to draw attention to them is a punishment undeserved. Let people be people; let the people that make the most noise know you're listening.

Fat people cost the healthcare system so much more than thin people it's ridiculous. Why should another person have to atone for their gluttony? They are going to die a slow painful death because of the **** they do every single day, and they aren't the only ones paying for it.

If everyone lived like a standard American we'd have to have 4.1 earths to support our consumption. This planet isn't big enough for people to devour vast amounts of resources for no good reason other than storing it in their body like an animal about to go through hibernation.

Fat people should be forced to change and not be given any government benefits until they do.

Heroin users shouldn't be shamed they should be helped. We treat addicts like garbage and they will respond accordingly.

In regards to the obesity issue I do not disagree with you on the financial front. They do cost more; however you are spending more money on the futile War on Drugs (if you live in the US) than you are the health of others. I'm nor telling to stop doing whatever it us you do that you think is helping this dire issue- I'm merely trying to explain that openly mocking a group of people because you believe you are better than them makes you look bad and does not help the problem. I read the comment about your friend- which if you see him tell him some guy on the Internet thinks he's radical- and I appreciate the efficacy of tough love, but that was with a friend. If you're just yelling at random fat people you look like an absolute dick. I was 330lbs (2 years ago) and now I'm down to 230. No amount of ridicule made me want to change my life. I looked at myself with not a head full self-loathing but a mind for action. I wanted to do things. I wanted go on hikes with my brother and climb mountains with my father. I wanted to ride a bike on the Jack and Back (a charity ride for MS research where you ride to the Jack Daniels Distillery from 50 miles away, get hammered, and the next day go back). I think the real key to starting on that path is purpose.

I'm not for the drug war that wasn't what I was saying as far as the heroin addict thing. I meant on a personal level, if you know people who do it you should try to get them to want to stop and improve themselves.

I agree with the nutritional thing, but obese people should be taxed heavily to pay for it, then when they lose they get their income.

The government benefits thing should be more regulated, though. You can be fat, but not in perpetuity. If you're taking money from the government because of you're inability to move sue to your weight then you should be required to meet certain standards. Imagine the amount of jobs we could give to Nutrionist of the government started funneling money into a government sanctioned nutrition program for the overweight.

Sure, if they're fat. If not, then it kind of loses it's sting. And I talk to other people all the time, like "hey fatty", "whatever you say, fatso.", "Hey tubby! thats not an effective one for all though. the best motivational strategies or ones that present the problem, and provide a solution right after. Think about it, would you rather have someone call you out on being fat...or someone say that you have a problem, and provide a solution. nevertheless, studies show that people are more likely to change when a solution is presented after you present the problem.

It's called extrinsic motivation. You know, where someone else's actions help to push you onto the path you should take. Not everyone can have the discipline it takes to go to the gym everyday. But many people find if they're doing it for a reason other than just themselves it helps to get them to work on it harder and more consistently.

The difference between the two stories is one is a normal adult man with normal control over his emotions being told this by a friend. The other is a young girl with autism being told this by her teacher. She is a teenager, so that does not help her emotionally, and also autism can make the emotional roller coaster that is being a teen so much more dramatic. I have known autistic people who have hit their parents because they have no ******* clue how to express what they are feeling. Not because they want to hurt people, not because they are angry at someone else, but because they are angry and frustrated with themselves for not being able to express themselves. Calling someone like that a fat **** , especially when you are in a position of authority to them, is just cruel.

much younger than this girl
and she got frustrated one day and hit one of the kids

As someone who wasn't bullied by students but was harassed by a teacher (who said it'd be a good thing if I died, he'd go out of his way to grade me worse on work that was just as good as my friend's if it wasn't something as straight forward and difficult to fudge the grades on as a test with set answers, and in general was just a total dick to me), the teacher in this content was out of line. Teachers can and will be abusive to students, and to compare a child who is still forming who they are and their self esteem for the rest of their life does not need to hear that **** from their teacher. This isn't about the fat acceptance ******** people who need to just have their heart attacks and die already, it's about a teacher who is a terrible person.
