Just curious, I thought Sikhs are forbidden to let metal touch their skin or something like that

okay, fine.
You know that method of hair removal called threading? It's hair removal without a blade or tweezers; it removes rows of hair quickly. Idk how it works

It was invented by the Sikhs, apparently because they weren't allowed to let metal blades touch their skin.
don't hurt me
User avatar #179 to #177 - roninneko ONLINE (01/09/2014) [-]
Ummm... no.

Sikhs wouldn't invent a hair removal tool at all, because they're not allowed to remove their hair. They consider their bodies to be gifts from God, and removing one's hair is therefore equivalent to damaging/disrespecting God's gift to them. Think of your parents buying you a beautiful classic car because they think you'll have respect for a pristine vehicle, and you go and chop down the body and spray-paint dumb-looking flames on it.

Turban and kirpan on his left hip. You can just see the pommel, and they are required to wear it at all times.
#34 to #17 - anonymous (01/09/2014) [-]
Yeah, it's for killing muslims.
Back in the day (and even today) they where targeted by muslims for forcefull conversion so they started wearing these blades.
Badass or what?
User avatar #128 to #34 - roninneko ONLINE (01/09/2014) [-]
Well, it's more as a symbol of their willingness to defend others from harm, but yes, that did factor in.

How do you tell the difference?
User avatar #20 to #9 - roninneko ONLINE (01/09/2014) [-]
This, of course, has not stopped uneducated redneck inbreds from shooting up their temples full of women and children, confusing them with Muslims simply because they appear Arab/West Asian and wear turbans.

The kirpan on his left hip; you can see the pommel of the hilt.

Sikhs are a warrior religion based on respect for all life, honour, justice, the search for truth, and defence of those in need. You do not need to be a Sikh to achieve reunification with God (which they believe is everywhere and in everything), and you get as many reincarnations as you need to lead the best life you can. They wear the kirpan as a symbol of their dedication to defending those who are victimized at a moment's notice, anytime, anywhere.

Oh, and they hate Muslims with a fiery passion; they generally regard them as brutish, barbaric zealots and have made a habit of kicking the everloving **** out of them in battle. Killing Muslims is almost a Sikh tradition, but you will find that the Sikhs make a point of never being the ones to hit first.

hey there im a Sikh and u have described Sikhism very well however one of your points was wrong and through the following i don't mean any disrespect. although Sikhs and Muslims have had a past of violence, we do not keep anger towards Muslims. its true that one of the ten guru(5th guru i think)was killed by Muslim fundamentalists. at that time some Muslims were converting everyone by force and Hindu's asked Guru Arjan dev ji to help them and he did. he was beheaded in Delhi. the son of that guru which was the sixth guru later on was asked by some Muslims who couldn't afford to build a place for prayer to well build them one. and he did because we believe no matter what religion u are they all lead to the one and further to show we didn't have a grudge against Muslims.

My mistake; it seems I oversimplified the situation and maybe got a little overzealous. I apologize.

That's the greatest religion I've ever heard of.

And thank you for the enlightenment.
User avatar #22 to #19 - roninneko ONLINE (01/09/2014) [-]
It's pretty awesome. And they don't disagree with science, as it is part of the search for truth. Since to them God is everywhere and always has been, every part of our empirical existence is in agreement with He/She/It.

Basically, they like you as long as you are kind, intellectually active, and ready to act with integrity and honour.

It's really the only reasonable religion I have ever encountered.
