Did you know?

Worth the read

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT
ABOUT POSSIBILITY Of YOUR
EXISTENCE?
LET ME HELP YOU TO
IMAGINE THAT BETTER.
ON AVERAGE, MAN PRODUCES
AROUND 2 000 000 FERTILE
PER DAY
THAT' S AROUND 45 000 000 000
DURING
AVARAGE MAN' S LIFETIME
EVERY SINGLE SPERMATOZOON
HAS ITS PARTICULAR DNA
AVERAGELY, MAN RAISES UP TO 3
CHILDREN THROUGHOUT
HIS LIFESPAN
POSSIBILITY THAT YOUR FATHER' S
SINGLE SPERMATOZOON WILL
BECOME EXACTLY YOU IS
1: 15 000 000 000
BUT IS THAT ALL?
Of COURSE NOT!
POSSIBILITY THAT YOUR
GRANDFATHER' S SINGLE SPERM
WILL BECOME YOUR FATHER AND
THAT YOUR FATHER' S SINGLE
SPERM WILL BECOME YOU IS
1: 144 000 000 000 000
POSSIBILITY OF YOUR EXISTENCE
AFTER GENERATIONS (ONE
GENERATION IS 25 YEARS) IS
1: 600 000 000 000 000 000
000 000 000 000 000 000
000 000 000 000 000 000
000 000 000 000 000 000 000
000
POSSIBILITY OF YOUR EXISTENCE
SINCE THE BEGINNING OF
MANKIND) IS 1: 18 000 000
000 000 000 000 000 000
AND 500 000 MORE ZEROS)
BUT IS THAT ALL?
OF COURSE NOT!
THESE CALCULATIONS ARE BASED
ONLY ON ' s
FACTOR, CALCULATIONS DO NOT
INCLUDE SUCH FACTORS AS
MOTHERHOOD, DEATH BY
NATURAL CAUSES, DEATH BY
UNNATURAL CAUSES, CHILD' S
DEATH BEFORE ADULTHOOD, ETC.
IF STATISTICS WOULD INCLUDE
ALL FACTORS, POSSIBILITY OF
YOUR EXISTENCE WOULD BE
ALMOST ZERO.
AND WHAT' S NEXT?
NEXT, AFTER REALIZING, HOW
UNTHINKABLY HUGE
COINCIDENCE YOU ARE...
AFTER REALIZING, THAT YOUR
EXISTENCE SHOULD BE
ALMOST %, BUT HERE YOU ARE
IT' S ABOUT GODDAMN TIME
TO MAKE THOSE NUMBERS
COUNT.
BUT FOR NOW...
IT WOULD BE ENOUGH JUST TO
APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT
YOU ARE ALIVE!

but I don't like being alive, and I don't want to die, in fact what I want is to have never existed in the first place

the fact that I exist, against all odds isn't just luck, it's also bad luck. Being alive is hard, living isn't a just a blessing, it's also a curse, for some more than others.

This is very misleading and I'd bet whoever wrote it doesn't actually understand statistics and probabilities at all.

Imagine for a moment that I shuffle a deck of cards and deal you 13 cards. Now imagine you look at that hand and it's Ace through King of the same suit. What's the probability of that happening? I'll tell you... It's the exact same probability of you getting any other random 13 card hand. You've just assigned arbitrary meaning to the first hand.

The probability of you existing is ONE (assuming you exist). In order to make a real statistic out of it, you'd have to compare your existence to all the instances in which you don't exist. Here, on Earth, we live in the real world. In that real world there is one reality. And in that reality you exist. There are no other options.

Congratulations. The probability of you existing is one, just like everyone else. Which makes you unique, just like everyone else.

It's things like these that makes me wonder if I would have had consience anyway, that I may have lived a life before without remembering it, and that there are NOT infinite consiousnesses
User avatar #58 - FtouGR (10/19/2013) [-]
Well you have a point, but there is an almost 100% chance that there will be a baby so... that's just for you being you, and well even with the slightest change you would change, but how the **** where you supposed to know? Even with the most radical change you would still be you with no knowledge whatsoever of the different outcomes.

And just remember, that out of all those numbers and 500,000+ zeros according to the post, there are 7 billion (and counting) people with nearly the exact same odds as you to be born.
