Dave, his mates and his mates mates (One of these was Kanye) were sitting around watching Daves unedited show to see what should and shouldnt make the cut.

He's actually not all that overrated in my opinion. He was a pioneer in the music industry for his use of sound-altering devices like the wa-wa pedal and playing with things like gain and such. Not only that, but he also was a left-handed guitarist who played with a right-handed guitar flipped around. His skill was definitely there, and his impact on the music industry is undeniable. I'm not saying you're wrong to not like him, i'm just saying that he deserves a lot of the credit that he gets.

I think his ability as a technical player is severely overrated. I completely agree that he was innovative as **** with the use of gear like the wah pedal and the way he could make the guitar sound (like in his version of America's National Anthem) but I hear a lot of people going on about how incredibly technically skilled he was at the instrument and he just wasn't. Hell I don't even dislike his music, a lot of it is damn good to listen to while I'm just chilling and Purple Haze is one of the first licks I ever learned.
