after getting a certain number of views on a video you will be offered to join the youtube partner program by google (it is a pretty ****** partnership, but is the easiest to get). from that you will earn 40%-55% of the earnings from the ad revenue after youtube does the 60/40 split. given the number of views he has it is easily possible that he has earned that much from a single video.

source: i'm a youtube uploader and machinima partner.

What kinda crap is that? The man put his foot their to stop him from being killed by a piece of metal sticking out. The man was probably injured himself in the processes.

imagine him starting conversations
"I bet you didn't know but I'm the guy who got kicked in the face while taking a selfie and got 23 million views from it"

I bet panties would drop for him hard and his reputation amongst men will skyrocket by 99% everywhere

Reports get these wrong all the time. They calculate the amount by multiplying the amount of views the video has with the exchange of cash for views in the account contract. I don't know the standard but it's somewhere between 1 - 7 dollars per 1000 views depending on a youtubers popularity.

People blatantly assume that this means youtubers are millionaires, but the view only counts if the viewer saw an advertisement. Those millions of views, minus those with adblock, minus at least a few hundred thousand or even more views that didn't see an ad, and discounting the repeat viewings, the profit is a lot lower than it appears

By teaching him not to stand in front of a ******* train as it drives by. Anything on the track as that machine drives by will be launched or destroyed with explosive results.

And let's face it, if you're a *********** runt that stands by a train going by for a selfie/video, you deserve a good smack in the head. Class acts always cooperate with the industries they'd like to work with.

I may be a bit behind on the technology these days, but how was he planning on taking a selfie while videotaping himself. Obviously he had this whole thing planned from the beginning.

explaining the youtube money thing
if your a youtube partner
every view earns you .0125 cents roughly
so 25m views translates into 312500 $ after YouTubes cut 250k
which isnt bad

intact most ad revenues pay this way .0125 cents per view free game sites free apps free sites
User avatar #136 to #128 - welfarekid (04/27/2014) [-]
Each add generates .0125 cents per view.
So, admin puts 3 adds on every page.
Each image on front page gets from 75k-25k views.
Admin claims to get 320m page views a month.
I do not assume that admin makes 4 million off of this site a month, but I assume he under exaggerates the cash flow from the site.

Meanwhile in reality he's likely to see maybe 1/20th of that theoretical revenue.

Mfw that's not how youtube works.

(not saying that's not a lot of undeserved money but the post is seriously misleading)

Nope, the video doesn't have any ads on.
User avatar #65 to #53 - somethingpants (04/27/2014) [-]
Some people on YouTube still earn money without ads on their videos. The view traffic is still counted, but less so. Though, as far as I know it's only verified YouTubers so I'm not sure why this kid is getting **** .
