You're right! ... Technically.

But bones are not just calcium deposits; the marrow and surrounding osteocytes are very much alive, and need blood just like any other tissue.
Also, deer do have velvety skin that grows on their antlers for a while, secreting growth hormones during the deer equivalent of puberty, which is how they end up with magnificent, bony racks as adult stags. They sometimes eat it as it peels off, because deer are metal like that.

Nope. It itches them so they go up to young tress and rub on it between the crevices of their antlers.

i'm pretty sure this isn't true...
i think so because older deer have longer antlers, which wouldn't happen if they regrew each year.

Every deer sheds it's antlers each year regardless of age. As they mature their antlers grow bigger making them better at fending off other bucks in mating season and such. Biggest buck gets the ladies.
