Who the **** would call planet fitness not a gym? is it because they don't charge you out the ass?
#48 to #20 - coffeehero (01/08/2016) [-]
It's because of all the restrictions, the "lunk alarm", and the fact that they give out candy and pizza.
#49 to #48 - thejusticar ONLINE (01/08/2016) [-]
Da fuq? What kinda gym does that? Dont they realize alot of people are there because they had poor self control?
#50 to #49 - coffeehero (01/08/2016) [-]
Yes they do, and that's exactly why they do those things.
They don't want their clients to reach their goals. They want their clients to keep paying for memberships forever and ever, and hardly use the gym. A lot of their policies coddle inexperienced and unserious gymgoers while keeping people, who actually want to make gains, at bay.
User avatar #51 to #50 - thejusticar ONLINE (01/08/2016) [-]
Well good thing i read this. I was thinking of switching to them instead of my normal gym. Tbh they are sounding pretty ****** .
#52 to #51 - coffeehero (01/08/2016) [-]
I've never been there, I'm not even from the US. All I know about PF is from the internet.
By all means, go check it out, but be sure to be aware of this stuff.

ight here's why planet fitness sucks and no self respecting person should **** with it. I bought a membership there for a very short trial period as it waa the only gym in my area open after I got off work. First thing, the lunk alarm. This is an actual alarm in the biulding that goes off if you so much as grunt when lifting it's stupid, like they expect people to be totally silent at the gym so all the little bitches don't get scared. Second they have posters EVERYWHERE that actively make fun of fit ppl. Why the **** go to the gym if you aren't trying to get in shape? So all the fatties and hipsters can feel good about themselves before going home and eating cake. Third they have a mother ******* dress code, mainly against bare midriffs but I got in trouble for wearing a sleeveless shirt. Yeah. Finally they actively try to keep their members fat, offering free pizza and other unhealthy food.
Tl;Dr planet fitness might be a "gym" but **** them and their ********

**binomancha used "*roll picture*"**
**binomancha rolled image**i go sleeveless all the time and they dont tell me **** ????
i love to lift weights but you dont need to grunt like crazy all the time
heavy breathing is fine i guess
planet fitness doesnt jave posters making fun of fit people???at least not the 3 i go too
and its your choice if you eat their **** pizza...not forcing it on you

but i like to imagine planet fitness is like average joes from dodgeball
except without the famous people
#42 to #37 - decon (01/08/2016) [-]
No average joes was cool, I suppose I should clarify this was essentially a loose wife-beater shirt. Dunno maybe the one I went to was just strict. The fact that as a gym they don't encourage a healthy lifestyle is pretty sleazy. Lastly **** example of said posters, didn't actually take pics when I was there

#55 to #54 - binomancha (01/08/2016) [-]
**binomancha used "*roll picture*"**
**binomancha rolled image**that they dont really encourage a healthy lifestyle...they want you to be average when you lose weight not healthy or fit...just average

and that average joes was cool lol

>Planet Fitness
>Gym

You have the pick one. Anyplace where they ring an alarm if you're working out with any actual effort isn't not a gym.
User avatar #44 to #9 - triene (01/08/2016) [-]
Wait why would the ring an alarm? Like, what is their actual reasoning behind it?
User avatar #45 to #44 - billymayss (01/08/2016) [-]
It's called the "Lunker alarm" I believe. They will ring it if you drop weights and they make any noise Not dropping them like an idiot, if you are benching 90lb dumbells though, you're gonna sit them down with a little force and they're gonna make some noise. But they'll ring it on you for most any noise If you grunt at all Which I don't care for it when people go "HUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAUGHGHG!" with each rep, but if you are just making normal quiet grunts they may ring it on you and basically any other thing you do when you actually put effort into working out and actually try to better yourself instead of just going to the gym so you can convince yourself you're not a sentient sack of **** . They have posters making fun of people who bring gallon water jugs in. I don't do that, but I understand. I fill up my water bottle 15 times a day when I'm taking creatine cause I need a **** ton of water.

ps don't think with any of this I'm implying i'm any less beta than the rest of you. I'm 140lbs and skinny as **** , but that's in part because I have an inhuman metabolism and regardless of how much I eat and what I eat it's nearly impossible to gain weight.

Planet fitness is a joke. Lunk alarm, won't let you bring in water jugs, can't wear beanies, they'll call the cops on you, and if you actually put up a decent workout you're liable to get kicked out. I've even heard of a guy not allowed to go in because he was too big and it would intimidate other members. Also, don't forget free pizza day.
User avatar #21 to #10 - pikapoopie (01/08/2016) [-]
The hells a lunk alarm?
#22 to #21 - pariahlol (01/08/2016) [-]
it goes off if you grunt, or drop weights even slightly, or if you do anything that's real fitness
User avatar #23 to #22 - pikapoopie (01/08/2016) [-]
Seriously? Why the hell do they have that at a gym
#24 to #23 - pariahlol (01/08/2016) [-]
Because it's not a gym, it's a "I'm lazy but I want to be able to tell people i go to the gym" club
User avatar #25 to #23 - newprinny ONLINE (01/08/2016) [-]
When lunk at planet fitness To be fair, hearing some guy making a **** load of unnecessary noise when he's working out would be pretty annoying, and dropping heavy **** on the ground make you liable to break something, but if you actually hear the alarm, it's louder than any grunting could possibly be, dood.
User avatar #46 to #25 - Darianvincent (01/08/2016) [-]
You drop weights to avoid injury m8
User avatar #29 to #10 - thehandofgod (01/08/2016) [-]
You're just misinformed. Like, super bandwagony misinformed. I've been going to planet fitness for about 2 years, just got my own membership last month.

In my time, never has the lunk alarm gone off, I see people wearing beanies, baseball caps, skull caps, all the time, I usually bring in a jug of water, and no one's said a damn thing.

However, I can't justify the pizza. That's just counterintuitive and dumb.

And there's huge guys there all the time, like the ******* who just eat sleep lift kind of people. Never heard anything against them. And ******** on the calling the cops. No one would ever do that **** , unless the person was being a dyke No, planet fitness is not a weight gym where you go just to get swole. It also doesn't claim to be. It's a place where people who are unhappy with their lifestyle and health can go to change it. People hate it because it isn't trying to be what it isn't. I just don't get it.
#30 to #29 - pariahlol (01/08/2016) [-]
Some planet fitnesses aren't as bad, it depends on management. Some are great gyms, and some are everything I described. Most are somewhere in the middle.
#7 - linearcircle (01/07/2016) [-]
