im not even sure sharing an OS is allowed/possible.
i recently built my computer on a torrented copy of w7 with absolutely no issues whatsoever.
there's really no risk in it.
"windows is not genuine" is the worst possible scenario in which case you simply re-do the "crack"
For the love of .... whatever deity pleases you ... stay the hell away from 8. It's awful and using it might motivate them to stick with the new style.
Science is a method, not an actual thing.
I know what you mean, but it doesn't make sense.
You probably mean "Science is my dogma" or "Physics/the universe is my deity".
Sorry, but your reaction pick bugged the hell out of me.
Just going to let some people know, Windows 8.1 is re-adding the start menu sometime in the future, including that the new apps will run in windowed mode once again, like windows 7 does now.
I think the stupidest part of this question is that you're asking if it should be Windows 7 or 8. 8 is pretty damn bad. I survive with it, but I can't stand it.
As a person that deals with this kinda stuff a lot. I'm currently using a 8.1. it works great. and fixes a lot of problems that people had with 8. Id suggest just do your research.
If you're interested in other operating systems - I would suggest looking into Ubuntu ( www.ubuntu.com/ ) as it very user friendly and quite easy to install. Most oridnary software you find paid on Windows you will find a completely free and well functioning similar program on Linux distros (office, photoshop etc).
Performance ratings are overall better than Windows and Mac except for graphics. That's why steamOS is so welcomed by many - as they will bring a new wave of improved drivers for graphic cards and will attract many game devs to this platform.
Haven't tried windows 7, using 8 myself. Installed an app that gives me the start button and the good old fashioned windows desktop we all know and love, the only difference I notice now (compared to XP) is that W8 seems to install certain software on its own if I let it know I need it (Like plugin in a device which requires a driver I don't have) So bottom line (at least for me) is that W8 is a tiny tad to configure in the beginning depending on personal preferences, but after that, works like a charm.
I have not installed the 8.1 version though.
I think the "start button app" is called something like classic shell.
We have windows 8 on work and its pretty cool. You actually have an expllorer and stuff like that, the only ******* missint thing is the start button... Get yourself windows 8
I built my own computer and I used Windows 7. My laptop had Windows 7 so I was used to it and its layout. If you are already used to working 8, I say use that because it is faster in some aspects than 7, but if you aren't used to it go for 7. What computer parts are you planning on using?
I have the MSI 760 TF and I absolutely love it, I got the AMD 8350 though instead of the i5-4670k, But everything else looks great, just make sure you dont cheap out and buy a crappy motherboard, get a good solid one with good reviews.
Buy a mac. Belive it or not, im not TRYING to get thumbed down, but I love my mac.
Sometimes im starting to think apple is paying me. Funny, when im paying them.
Secound thought: Don´t get a mac. Get a degree in something computer-ish and start working for microsoft. From there you can reboot the Windows XP support- and malware devition. I belive in you.
a) He probably doesn't have a $2,000 budget
b) He probably likes video games
c) He's doing a custom build, which Apple will sue you for if you try to do with their software
d) I'm going to assume until proven otherwise he does not like dicks in his ass
