When I saw 'A Haunted House' last year, the black family in front of me pulled out leftovers from red lobster.

MFW Lakeisha over here just starts nonchalantly eating Shrimp Alfredo and Cheddar Bay Biscuits in the middle of a crowded movie theater

If you wanted to eat your own snacks, you shouldn't have gone to a cinema!

Seriously the concessions are the only ways they make money.

They make all their money on the snacks. They have to hand over most of the money they make from tickets.

In what ****** up country do cinemas ban outside snacks? Is this an amerifat thing?
User avatar #67 to #65 - leonhardt (07/28/2014) [-]
Yeah. Smart business decisions are exclusively Amerifat things.

>Implying cinemas make any significant revenue from anything other than concessions (Most ticket revenue goes to the movie producers, the cinemas barely see any of it).

Nz Cinema master-race
You can bring snacks Drinks are cheap anyway
movies are never too full or too empty

I'm not sure if my cinema in auckland lets us bring snacks but we sneak in random snacks all the time.

my friends and I usually go to Events Cinema and the one we go to have only one tap that dispenses Sprite and it's placed on the counter farthest to the counter where the line for "just food and drinks" are located. because we pay separately only one of us is allowed to have sprite if we don't want to look like douches.

It's all about the money guys, I learned the theory behind this in university. It actually makes sense.
Many people compute about 20$ for going to the movies. So when they find out a ticket is only $10, they still have $10 for buying food and drinks. These people also won't get mad, because they computed $10 anyway.

Thats like saying "if you didn't want me to steal something maybe you should have given it for free". You don't get rights just because you feel like it. Overpriced snacks/ beverages/ popcorn is a major money income from cinemas. You don't have the rights to define the prices in someone elses establishment.

The same goes for airports
User avatar #53 - isradam (07/28/2014) [-]
Wait... I thought that stopped. Where I live, you can now even bring a ******* meatloaf to the movies.
User avatar #51 - neonnurse (07/28/2014) [-]
I don't mind paying about $20 for a tub of popcorn and large soda, especially since I get two refills on each. But I refuse to pay $4.50 for a box of candy smaller than what I could by at walgreens with two other candy boxes for $3

I once got a large pizza and a fifth of whisky into the theater. Pretty sure the ticket guy knew I was sneaking the pizza in, and didn't care, though.
