Or, y'know, make it so hard for the criminals to have guns that this never happens, or have a sane and humane approach to mental illness.
>This isn't possible, hurr durr urocuck hurr mooslims obummer wants to take mu gurns
It worked in Australia, and it works everywhere else too. How long before a teacher flips out and shoots a kid, or a kid gets the teachers gun and purposefully / accidentally shoots someone. Or one of the teachers kids does at home.
More guns = more deaths by guns, deaths = bad, therefore less guns = good. Can't argue with it (you can make loud retarded blubbing noises, but that's not an argument, because there are no good counterarguments).
Counterargument: Take away the guns, go for knives. Take away the knives, go for anything else that can be used to kill someone. If you have not noticed, we humans have been fairly good at killing one another, even before the advent of firearms. Less gun deaths does not mean that the problems of actual "homicide" are solved or impacted in any meaningful way. You should not just take a large issue like that, put a band-aid on it (removing firearms form the populous) and act like its not going to be an issue in the future.
More info on knife crime in particular can be found here (lots of info, fairly interesting, don't have time to pick and choose pieces atm and it seems a bit dated like most of the stats im finding, interesting none the less.): www.aic.gov.au/publications/current%20series/tandi/401-420/tandi417.html
Overall, the homicide rate has gone down in AUS (Like most 1st world countries) but it is still present in amounts that can be "improved upon" depending on the individual you are talking to, and even though firearms are not used as often as they once were, individuals have moved to other mediums to prey on people for a variety of reasons.
In the U.S, it is your constitutional right to bare arms. Regardless of whatever Utopian society any individual or group believes we can have, if you wish to remove one of the most coveted rights of the United States of America, you are more than welcome to immigrate to a country that has made sure firearms are removed. UK comes to mind.
It's already hard for criminals to get guns you ******* . They obtain them through the black market because anyone with a criminal record can't obtain a weapon outside the state of Florida where their gun laws are looser than a prostitute in Reno. If we make guns illegal in the US, the black market dealers aren't going to give a **** .
Also, you can't feasibly ban guns in the US because everyone already has a **** ton of them, and you can't just pour them into the sewer like they did with alcohol throughout the prohibition era. How will Americans be compensated for their firearms stolen by the government? Where is the government going to get all of that money? It's pretty fair to say that if any liberal president came into power and somehow successfully repealed the second amendment, the Americans would revolt and kill any government agents that try to confiscate their guns. And the citizens are protected by the constitution to do so.
I remember this one time I decided to bring a small pistol to school to shoot up the whole school but then when I took it out and aimed at someone to start my killing spree, I was shot and killed. Damn, I feel like if nobody was armed and if guns were illegal to have around that school, I would have been able to get away with it. /sarcasm
More like hardcore right wing government teachers who spennd far too much time over a black guy kicking his door in, despite thr fact there isnt a single african american within 4 counties of him, and home invasions in the US are down way below other crimes.
>Taking away the legal method of owning guns only disarms the law abiding citizens.
>That being said, there is absolutely **** all reason that a mental health issue should not be a red flag on an instant background check.
>"but privacy states that the seller of the gun shouldn't know about someone's mental health, that's immoral", yeah well **** you. The seller doesn't have to know WHY they got a flag, just that they did and not sell them a ******* gun.
>Jesus christ it's not that hard people!
The law in effect in Arkansas and other states with these sorts of signs isn't saying teachers have all been issued sidearms and have 9's stowed in their desk or whatever.
It merely allows educators who already have concealed carry licenses to also carry while at school.
You know except school shootings are extremely rare, And if you are going to get shot it will most likely be by someone you know, And even more likely that it is someone you care about.
