I bought the Phantom Pain off some dude for 45 dollars, and since it was the Steam edition it included both Ground Zeroes and the pre-order bonuses. I already had Ground Zeroes, but since I'm poor and I was trying to save up for Phantom Pain it was the pirated version.
It's very different from previous Metal Gear Solid games, but once you get the hang of it and start understanding the mechanics behind it it's actually pretty fun.
My only real complaints that I have is that the open-world map makes it very easy for you to be spotted, but that's probably not an issue for someone who's more patient than me, and that sometimes the enemies huddle up to much and you have to take them all way too quickly for comfort if you don't want reflex to kick in. And one minor nitpick is that the time guards spend being knocked out seems to be completely random, but you're supposed to avoid them, so once again it's a problem with my playstyle.
It would be a shame to let all those beautiful light machine guns collect dust on Mother Base, now would it? But it is a Metal Gear Solid game, so I'll try being as stealthy as possible.
"Try" being the keyword here. And to be honest, it'll be kinda weird to play Big Boss' descent into villainy completely peacefully, so I'll probably start non-lethally and start shooting people when **** hits the fan.
Knowing myself, I'll probably get the worst ending on my first run, so I'll have to make a second one where I get the good ending.
Although given that it's a prequel to the original Metal Gear I guess the bad ending would probably be the more accurate one...
Probably Quiet and DD, but given that, at least according to the guy playing the demo at E3, D-Walker is gonna have stealth upgrades I may have to look into that for missions where I'll have to cover a lot of ground in a short time without alerting anyone.
To be honest I'm kinda surprised there's no fully combat oriented buddy.
Yeah, it's a shame none of the bosses from Metal Gear are available as buddies, having Shotmaker blasting people in the face with a shotgun while tanking everything they threw at him would of been awesome.
Although having Dirty Duck throw explosive boomerangs at people while hiding in a box would probably been not as awesome.
It's probably because Ocelot's busy training new recruits since the guy that was in charge of doing that during Peace Walker is probably dead.
You will be missed, generic MSF Sergeant.
I really hope that we get to pilot ZEKE this time around, or being able to use it against the ST-84.
Although if the ST-84 close range capabilities are half as good as REX's it'll be a pretty one-sided battle.
