All these post about dying in dark souls for the last what, 3 years? Just annoys people into hating an amazing game without even giving it a chance. Yes, its challenging your first time unless you watched someone else play but it gets easier. Once it gets easier you're free to explore the game and piece together the lore which is fun, and finding hidden things which there are a lot of. Playing it without reading anything about it or where things are your first couple play through or even once is a great experience which you really shouldn't rob yourself of. When all people see about the game though are "man, i died so many times" met with "XD that game isnt hard git gud" some people will miss out on an amazing franchise and dislike it for no actual reason besides being tired of the fanboys.
Dark souls gives a sense of difficulty by having variety of enemies throughout the game. Almost every area has some sort of new enemy with a new moveset that you need to learn. Once you learn that moveset, you should be fine. You still die on occasion, however.
Well to be fair, I'm not all that good at video games. I love them with a passion, but the challenge level is twice what it is for most people due to a lack of coordination and some other problems. So yeah, Daark Souls is terribly hard for me.
Well, if you're not there for the challenge, use ultra greatswords. DkS1 zweihander or something even more OP and in DkS2 Greatsword +10 will do.
also in DkS2 if youget agility on like 104 youre unstoppable and nothing will ever hit you if you hit that "B" or circle button on time. But that may be harder for you, in that case just use a shield with 100% phys block and have a magic shield when you got to something like shrine of amana. Man, **** shrine of amana.
Min maxing doesn't make PvE any easier, there's no level to stop at. And the only real cheesing in dark souls is if you sequence break and skip a whole part of the game, which is mostly just speedy, but not really easy. The game is easiest played with wolf ring, fast roll, and a black knight weapon, which is not min maxed nor cheesing.
There are still plenty of people (me included) that don't go for special builds designed to make the game a cakewalk. When I was playing Dark Souls I just put points wherever I wanted and used whatever looked decent. Never bothered to put effort into analysing every enemy animation to know precisely what time to roll out of the way or parry their **** or anything of the sort.
I just worked by the process of:
> Enemy swings
> Can I block it?
>>> Yes = block.
>>> No = roll.
> Attack
not
> Enemy swings
> Parry
"Omg this game is so ez anyone who says it's not is lying"
or
Hmm what specific set of equipment can I use in combination with my knowledge of all enemies that will result in the least amount of effort and the most amount of damage?
^Tip: your reply goes under stuff like that. Whether you like it or not, there is a massive number of gamers who prefer to play casually, and thus don't bother to do that **** . As a result, the game is hard to them.

If you're on the fence it's one of my favorite games of all time and I don't even like hard things. inb4 penis joke
Up until very recently I did all my gaming on my laptop just got a PS4 , and I have had others tell me that it is almost impossible to play it without a controller never really wanted/needed to buy one for my laptop gaming
I got Dark Souls like a year ago when it was on sale on Steam
GFWL ****** up with the key and I couldn't play online so I stopped playing because I felt like I was missing out on the invasions
Now I'm just waiting for GFWL to die for good like the ******* parasite it is so I can enjoy Dark Souls completely
when i first picked up dark souls 2 for the pc, after upgrading my pc and playing it on console. I beat every boss except for nashandra without dying, even with scum sucking pvpers invading my ass. On my way to nashandra my friend walked in and distracted me for just a second, and I fell off the side of the cliff.
I reached back and turned the power off my computer and went to bed. at 3 in the afternoon.
