Like really ******* hard, man.

So today my buddy didn' t believe
me when I told him how hard dark
souls 2 was.
So I showed him gameplay footage
of it. And he said it still looked
Mad easy, yo."
I told him I died twice in the
tutorial alone. And that lead
developers died "More times than
they wanted to admit."
This ************ bet me 15
dollars that he could BEAT THE
GAME, without dying more than
three times.
After about 20 minutes I was a
happy 15 dollars richer man.

Never played Dark Souls. I don't understand where the difficulty comes from. Can someone fill me in?

The game is much more punishing than others of the genre. Enemies do much more damage than one would expect, the environment is often riddled with traps and pitfalls, and even the slightest mistakes in combat and travel lead to instantaneous, uneventful death.

Of course, careful consideration of one surroundings, proper pacing, sharp motor skills, and keen observation can help you through the game with relative ease. Or, straight up trial and error.

Sunbros.
Game just feels rewarding when overcoming a difficult boss or enemy. Lore is interesting. High learning curve. Game isn't actually HARD as much as you kinda need to be cautious (but not scared) while playing. Thinking ahead usually saves your ass. I highly recommend buying it if you think you have the patience for it, best game experience I've ever had personally.

My nephew is autistic, but amazingly good at games. (I taught him how to play Super Mario 64 when he was 3, and we've played co-op games ever since.)

I introduced him to Dark Souls, which he hadn't played before. I knew he was good at games and expected him to get pretty far in without dying.
He gets to and beats the Asylum Demon without getting hit, and proceeds to breeze through the game with minimal deaths.

That days I watched him play that game were the worst, because I hated myself for wishing that I had been born an autistic savant.

Yeah, I would say so. I do suggest you play the first one, however. It's a great game.

every game is hard as **** when the character reacts like **** . i mean i have seen countless videos on jewtoob where people plays dark souls and the controlls just seem to suck really bad. the character is slow as **** and he can barely jump over a small edge and i simply fail to understand why such a ****** game is so popular
User avatar #349 to #337 - hybredmoon (03/14/2014) [-]
You can't really tell from youtube vids, but the controls in Dark souls are tight as hell. The thing is that the stats on your character have a BIG effect on how that character handles. So if you have a dude decked out in huge armor, wielding a giant ass dragon tooth club, yea he's gonnah handle like a WWII tank. The trade off is that he can take hit's like one too. If you use lighter stuff your guy moves and responds much more quickly.

Everyone I know doesn't get pissed dying 30 consecutive times in dark souls, but once they die 3 times in clickable options Zork they rage quit.

Dying from things you don't notice doesn't make a game hard. It's difficult, sure, but it's no Dwarf Fortress.

Lovin' D-Souls 2. ******* epic gameplay aspects like the torch system and utilizing it in No Man's Wharf and the fight against the Lost SInner. Please tell me I wasn't the only one flipping his **** during the fight against the Old Dragon Slayer?

Unfortunately this doesn't apply to me, I ragequit dark souls 1 about 3 times, without about 30 min or so worth of progression each time.

I played through the first dungeon of Dark Souls, not sure if it's indicative of the rest of the game or not.

I honestly think it's just overrated.
