The show's lore is totally ****** , on a real life point of view, though.
Ghost DNA doesn't exist. Ghosts are incorporeal and, quite literally, dead.
So, from a real life point of view, this tumblr post is actually correct. He is both alive and dead, since ghosts are incorporeal manifestations of a corporeal creature that has died.
But hey, it's a ******* cartoon, who cares?

DNA is corporeal Easily observable and exists within every living being we've encountered thus far. . Ghosts are not corporeal Assumed, since we don't know if they even exist. . They have no body.
As such, DNA cannot exist in a ghost, or rather, ghosts do not have DNA.
There you have it. Ghost DNA can not exist, if what we believe of ghosts is also real.

That doesn't explain how he can do most of his powers if he's simply controlling a physical body via a ghost inside.

The simple act of going through walls would leave his physical body behind, because the body can't go through walls, the ghost can.

Same with becoming invisible.

Which would make him a lich, and totally not explain the ghost powers his physical body posesses. He underwent a physiological change which more accurately puts his physiology as being capable of existing, and transitioning in both planes of existence with the capability of physiologically transitioning his form to one which is most adaptive for both planes of existence.

He's a transdimentional shapeshifter if anything...

what's the difference between a living corpse and a living normal body? what exactly makes it a corpse if its still alive? can you really be dead and alive? if you're half alive and half dead, you're still alive. no one will consider you dead until you're 100% not alive. if you're even a little alive still, without ever having been not alive, can you really be considered a dead corpse?
