If we are talking about streaming services that is very reasonable. The bitrate of all streaming services I know of are so terrible it is not even funny. Selecting 4K UHD is worth it just for the increased bitrate.
Bitrates are so bad that if you got a perfect 7Mbit/s you would be able to stream 4K UHD content on youtube without a problem... After a quick test youtube seems to be around 5500 to 6500 Kbit/s for 4K UHD content
Do you realise now how bad it is? 1920x1080 bluray's bitrate is 48Mbit/s... That is a quarter of the number of pixels yet 8 times the data. That means it has 32 times as much data per pixel on the screen. There is nothing high-resolution at all about streaming services today offering 4K UHD, at 1080p it is even worse.
DISCLAIMER: I did not take into account audio here... My point still remain non the less however, even if I my calculations are a bit of due to it. I just realised this.
