My friends only play 3.5, so I have no idea what the other editions hold. Are they good or not, because all of my friends treat 4.0 as if it were summoned out of Satans pentagram shaped asshole.

Yeah 4e was horrific, but so far 5e seems a hell of a lot better.

If it were summoned out of Satan's asshole, it would at least be cool.

I have the first 2 sets of the Dragon Age tabletop RPG. I can never get enough people together to play it with me.

That sucks, I struggle to set up a brand new group but it is doable. You should try finding a hobby store near where you live, you can attend games and make friends, then set up your own groups.

people still play D&D? I thought when 4.0 came out, everyone went to Pathfinder...

I tried the playtest for DnD Next and I thought it was pretty good.

At the moment, if you have been playing pathfinder than it's still worth playing now, as you have all the resources but 5th might surprise us all! Pretty much, 4th was so terrible but this seems alot better, mandatory maps, movement by squares, those gamey skill cards have all been removed and a bunch of new features added, whether or not they're any good remain to be seen.

5e dropped all the 'gamey' bull from 4e, and instead plays more like 3.5, though with rules that are designed to reduce the number crunching.

I had a DnD group. We played one Campaign, then one player said she didn't want to play and so the group disbanded because nobodies mean enough to exclude her because she's got this terrifying fear of being alone.

It didn't help that the two DM's and the other players lived with this girl.... I miss it. Short but amazing game. Really want to play more.

Spell slots are back in, so you only get X amount of level X skills per day again. The example Wizard in the set has 6 spells in his spell book at 1st level but has 2 spell slots and can prepare a maximum of 4 different spells, excluding cantrips.

have to admit that i kinda prefer it that way instead of how 4e did it.

Oh most definitely, I couldn't stand that gamey crap that 4e did, hopefully 5e can win back some old players. I like Pathfinder but still, it's D&D, Hail to the king baby.

I mean I like 4e well enough, ( specially since im part of a gaming group in that) but it felt a bit restricted at times.

Pre-ordered the players handbook and looking forward to playing that with the irl group.

have to say that I liked how they implemented the downtime system, which was pretty much house-ruled most of the time.

Oh yeah I still played it but I did prefer 3.5 or Path. On the upside 5e really does feel like a real contender again. I have also pre ordered all 3 handbooks, and very much looking forward to the days used to learn new additions.

Gotta love DnD, has its faults but at least its easy to home-brew. Though ADnD will always be my eternal favorite. Back when casters weren't OP.

Don't get it forced on me at all actually. I came to D&D in my own time. Considering my parents met through LARPing, I don't think I had much of a choice.
My mum's the person who does RPG resource if you're wondering.

Ah, fair enough. I would imagine if I had kids they'd hate all manner of geeky pursuits just because of the over saturation by myself.

Your mum sounds awesome btw.

Idk my parents are very much the type of people who just leave their kids to whatever until it comes to academic pursuits.
She is pretty awesome.

Oh I can look up from where I'm sprawled and see at least 5 various rulebooks for specific games, and then there's just the box of pathfinder stuff.
