>Venomous=inject their venom
>Poisonous=Eat/Touch

pick one
User avatar #12 to #6 - drpenguinz ONLINE (04/23/2015) [-]
actually you can use poisonous for both terms
venomous is only needed if you actually see the need to specify which of both

see wikipedia article for "poison", read the first sentence.

stop trying to be a smartass, thanks...

inject their poison sounds ******* retarded.

Wikipedia:
The fields of medicine (particularly veterinary) and zoology often distinguish a poison from a toxin, and from a venom. Toxins are poisons produced by some biological function in nature, and venoms are usually defined ** as toxins** that are injected by a bite or sting to cause their effect.

For you, I checked that wiki you talked about.

What the **** were you talking about?

Poison, venomous, and poisonous have their own different definitions.

If you ask me, I think you tried to prove me wrong but made no sense.
#18 to #17 - drpenguinz ONLINE (04/23/2015) [-]
In the context of biology, poisons are substances that cause disturbances to organisms, usually by chemical reaction or other activity on the molecular scale, when a sufficient quantity is absorbed by an organism.[1][2] The fields of medicine (particularly veterinary) and zoology ** often distinguish** a poison from a toxin, and from a venom.

Ok, what am I wrong about? It's nice when you go out of the way to explain things but you could have done it in beginning instead of looking like a fool who made no sense.

User avatar #21 to #19 - drpenguinz ONLINE (04/23/2015) [-]
also wikipedia says they distinguish poison between toxin and venom
by your logic you are automatically wrong if you ever use the term "poison"
what you call poison wiki calls toxin

i really really hate people like you, really
you are the guy who's going to discuss about how a PC at your work is just a C cause its not personal anymore, some day you realize that unnecessary arguments like that rather make you look rather retarded than smart
a tip for you bruh: avoid arguments like that in real life

What the hell does that have any relevance to what I said?

And I see you dodged my question.

This is a red flag for a possible stupid troll. Good day, sir.

#9 to #8 - privilege (04/23/2015) [-]
What? No. It isn't venomous. Like bloodspider said, it's poisonous. But the way he said it, he thinks poisonous only mean that you get poison if you eat.
User avatar #10 to #9 - TheMather ONLINE (04/23/2015) [-]
Its toxin is transferred by sting as well as ingestion though, which by definition makes it also count as a venom, thus making the puffer fish venomous.
#16 to #10 - privilege (04/23/2015) [-]
true. never thought of that way. Some species have toxin in spines.
#15 to #10 - privilege (04/23/2015) [-]

User avatar #38 to #10 - independantnight (04/23/2015) [-]
Venom's are injected poisons. The puffer fish is not venomous, it has the highest concentration of toxins in it's internal organs and a small level on many of the species skins, but the spined puffer fish do not inject venom from their spines.
User avatar #28 to #10 - mattdoggy (04/23/2015) [-]
I have searched several places but have not found where it has stinging spines. It notes that there are remote levels of toxins in the skin but not specifically that the spines transfer toxins like a stinger.

Do you have any sources?
