The fact that they actually put 'moon' down on it makes it even funnier.

At what height do you leave the US border?
User avatar #10 to #9 - ludislavonac (12/15/2014) [-]
There is no consensus on that in international law for now, some will suggest that national airspace ends at about the height of 100km if I'm not mistaken.

Any laws on how deep that goes? How many cubic metres does the US contain?
User avatar #17 to #13 - ludislavonac (12/15/2014) [-]
As I said, no consensus as of yet, though most international law experts say the 100km range is about right. There is also another principle which doesn't take the height into account, but instead the function of the flight, that's why it's called the functional principle at least in my language, not sure if that's the proper translation in english . If the flight is meant to be performed inside the atmosphere then various national laws (plus some conventions) apply, depending on where it is. If it goes outside the atmosphere then only international law, or more specificaly, several treaties apply as the governing law.

On one hand, I'm like, "WTF?!"

But he kinda did leave the country....and the planet.

If anyone NEEDS to go through customs, it's him.

I wonder if he needed a passport...

"Step this way Neil"

"That is Commander Armstrong! And the world is waiting!"

"It can wait a little longer Neil. Strip-searching uppity astronauts will only take an hour"
