I really enjoyed number 1 and its expansion, i just feel that 2 and 3 tried to join in with the generic shooters a little and lost some of its flare

I often think about this and wonder why games haven't yet been able to beat the level of detail in crysis 1

Games can be made to look exactly like real life, we clearly have the technology with all the CGI that's in movies now. The only thing is that 1. It's insanely expensive to make 2. The computer used to run it would be insanely expensive and thus the amount of people to buy it would be minuscule 3. Most people who play video games prefer game play over aesthetics. While good graphics add to the immersion factor, it's not really a determining factor when it comes to if you'll get a game or not. Example: GTA V. It's been in the works for a lot of years now, and it looks like a game that would be released in maybe 2008. However, the gameplay and content within the game clearly shows that the development was worth it.

If there's one thing you animals can debate and discuss civilly, it's video games.

Keep in mind, most of you are comparing to games designed for 8 year old consoles.

Though yes, as graphics technology advances, noticeable graphical changes will decrease (there's only so many pixels you can fit on a screen before the eye can't tell the difference).

>7 years old
>made by like, 30 German dudes
>200+ sectors
>200+ ships
>sexy graphics
>countless mods (as encouraged as Minecraft mods)
>a whole ******* universe being simulated all at once
>like EVE Online without the faggots

I ******* love being a PC gamer.
Seriously, I've put a total of 876 hours into this game and the previous one (X2: The Threat) and wouldn't consider myself to have "finished" them.
Why the **** don't more people know about this series?

Also, the ships pictured are Terran ships and I have destroyed SOOOO many of those ******* with my fleets of fighters and Boreas's (which is the most powerful ship in the game and don't let anyone tell you otherwise because **** them they're wrong.... at least since the ATF Skirnir got crazy nerfed to be only slightly less than a frigate version of the Death Star).

Unreal Engine 4 - Infiltrator Tech Demo
Game engines have advanced a lot since then, it just hasn't been economical to implement them. If you look at real time tech demos you can see cool stuff, it's mostly been the xbox and ps3 and budgets holding games back.

CryEngine 1 is the most powerful one. 2 and 3 are optimized for consoles.
