I just had surgery on my tailbone and now I cannot leave the house to do anything, its immensly ******* boring and havn't been to the gym in 3 weeks (I had just ******* repaid them for another 6 months aswell) trust me you should use your legs the most you can. You never know if you'll get to have the choice next time.

Regular lifting trains your bigger muscle groups. You know, biceps, triceps, pecs, abs, thighs. That sort of ****. Crossfit trains those AND the smaller ones which I don't even know the names of. In theory, crossfit leads to much faster gains. In practice, since you're straining yourself so much, it leads to stupidity-induced injuries, since very, very, very, VERY few people bother with proper form, so you've got ******** lifting stuff that's way too heavy in a way that strains their entire body. If they survive, they outdo regular lifters most of the time. If they survive.

Crossfit itself isn't bad, there are just a lot of bad trainers out there, and the main focus in a lot of boxes isn't form. So combine that with the super high intensity and frequency that crossfit uses and you have a ton of frequent injuries. If you do it right it can get you big and lean.

If listening to Dom gives you cancer here's the TLDR. Crossfit does not teach or allow form whatsoever. It is about doing as much weights in as many reps as you can in an allocated amount of time. People end up rushing through workouts with weights they can not handle. This leads to poor form which leads to injury.

I've been to some great crossfit trainers who were very adament about proper form. ****** trainers exist everywhere, but it's only noticeable in the form of injury for crossfit and standard weightlifting trainers. I think the problem is that it's popular and new. Thus, you get a lot of inexperienced trainers who think they know what they're doing, training people who don't know any better. Not to mention crossfit exercises are intermediate to hard difficulty, even with light weights, so proper form is crucial to not getting hurt. With standard weightlifting, you can BS your way with light weights(for non olympic lifts).

You don't have to be certified by anyone to call yourself a trainer. Make sure your trainer really knows his stuff before joining a gym like that. Proper form for lifts,and how to work and stretch specific muscle groups (and how they work with each other). If your trainer doesn't know those, find a new trainer.

I did Crossfit for a few months in thailand with a really good trainer. Everytime he wanted me to do a certain exercise, he would make me repeat it with no weight until I got the proper form down and then added weights in 5kg increments only. I did a lot of reps with plastic pipes filled with sand, then empty bar then weights to make sure I didn't injure myself. The one time I came close to an injury was when my arm buckled doing some kettlebell stuff cuz I was exhausted and he immediatly said 'ok enough weights for today'

I get that. Just saying most people get hurt because they want to show off a bit. Some of the best CrossFit "athletes" (not sure on a better term) have excellent form. It's only the people trying too hard to be the next Rich Froning that get hurt. And if your trainer doesn't care about form, thats just a piss poor trainer. not necessarily a bad sport. But I get your point. Have a thumb
