Lamia
Popular within the monster girl trend within anime, the lamia was originally quite a grusome creature. According to the ancient Greek myths, Lamia was a princess who, like many other women, got knocked up by Zeus, with Hera in her rage, getting the children killed (how, varies).
This made Lamia go mad with sorrow, and she started to kidnap and kill children. As punishment for this, the gods turned her into the snake-woman hybrid we now know as a lamia. This didn't really made things better though, as she now didn't just kill children, she ate them. And she started to lure men into the woods where she would ambush them and suck their blood. Thanks gods.

Wendigo
Found in the stories of certain native american tribes, the wendigo was a gruesome human-like beast strongly connected to winter, cold and famine, but most of all possessed an endless hunger for human flesh. Some stories say that it even grew everytime it ate someone, so it in addition to becoming stronger, was still hungry.
A wendigo was created when a person performed cannibalistic acts, or lived a greedy or gluttonous life. It could also happen if a person became possessed by the evil spirit that is wendigo, who would then become violent and hunger for human flesh. Should they give into this hunger, they would become a wendigo.
To kill it one would have to stab the heart or burn it. If killed in any other way it would just come back, and seek revenge.

Basilisk
Often thought of as a large serpent with piercing yellow eyes (thanks to Harry Potter), the basilisk in folklore is often depicted as a combination of a dragon and rooster, as it was supposedly hatched by a cockatrice (a dragon-rooster creature) from the egg of a serpent or toad. Other stories says that it was actually a pretty small snake, but was so venomeus it left a trail of venom in it's wake, and everywhere it whent, everything would just die (could even result in deserts).
The most iconic trait is the fact that it could kill just by looking something in the eyes. Some stories says that even it's breath was so toxic it could kill. And sometimes it could kill someone just by thouching them, or something else that was thouching the person, like their sword.

Succubus
A demon based completely on the sin of lust, the succubus is a female demon said to be so beautiful only the strongest of will could resist her seductive skills. Older stories though, depict her as quite demonic and horrific, but she could take on the form of a beautiful human female in order to seduce her victims.
It visited men in their dreams, seduced them, and then had sexual intercourse with them. They would then return and do this each night, with the man becoming weaker and weaker, and eventually die from having all his life energy drained by the succubus. Another version is that it simply visited the man and drained his soul, a belief that came from what we call "sleep paralysis" where one often feel like there is an omnious presence in the room.
There is also a version were it would collect a man's cum, give it to the incubus (male succubus) who would then use it to impregnated a human female, resulting in a deformed child. Ok what in the actual **** .

Kelpie
The kelpie is a shapeshifting water spirit from Scotland, said to inhabbit various lochs and pools. While it could look human, it was primarly said to have the form of a horse, in this form luring people to ride it, only to get stuck there. It then rode into the loch and drowned them, and then proceded to eat them. "Kelpie" is also the name of some dog breeds.
A common tale of the kelpie is one were a group of children find and mounts it, with one kid staying behind. But as he then petted the "horse", his hand got stuck, and to free himself he cut his hand off. He survived, but his friends didn't.
