Well, nationalism is broader than patriotism because it can be applied to stateless groups or races, i.e. white nationalism or Kurdish nationalism. In practice the term is also used both by nationalists and non-nationalists to refer to a sort of chauvinism, i.e. national/racial supremacism + xenophobia.

In my understanding of the words, based on how I see them used, patriots could be proud of their country's greatness and strive to make it better, while nationalists are proud of their country's/race's superiority over others, regardless of their domestic well-being.

There is a difference between nationalism and xenophobia. Nationalism is pride in one's nation, and by itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. Xenophobia, or hatred of other nations or groups, is what gives Nationalism a bad rap.

What a black thing to say. What a Jewish thing to say. That is a miserly quip made by those who have no past to be proud of and no future and no contribution to humanity. No ancestral legacy and no legacy for their descendants.

When our forefathers achieve something before we are born, we have the same blood and are part of the same gene pool, if we share the same race or ethnicity as said forefathers. When we work hard to continue their legacy, we keep it alive and become part of it. We can be proud of belonging to the same race that has PROVEN to be able to do those things. We may not have done those specific achievements personally, but we can feel proud knowing that we CAN make achievements of that caliber.

When our forefathers fight for a culture, principles and precepts, and we fight for the same, those principles are living in us. Principles require people and peoples to believe and fight for them otherwise they are dead. Both us and our ancestors are part of the this philosophical and intellectual legacy spanning centuries and in some cases, millennia.

A discovery or an invention may be made by an individual or a team, but it is the supporting nation and economy that allowed them to do their job and reach that height. And it is that team's race that gave them the biological basis and potential to be able to invent stuff. IOW, some races are too dumb to invent stuff no matter how much education and post-natal nurture you throw at them. Members of that race can then rightly feel proud that they share the same (or very similar) hardware and potential as that team.

A nation is a collection of parts working together. You may be the construction worker shoveling sand behind the front lines, and not the soldier that was part of the army that broke that the enemy, but your part enabled troops and supplies to get to the army. You played your role in the victory. Even the wife and mother back home raising the kids and making more kids played her part.

When your ancestors make your country great and you sit on your ass and do nothing or positively turn the country to **** , then no, you are not part of the same legacy and not part of the same enterprise. You are its opposite and the destroyer of theirs.

Only those who rabidly believe in the dogma of individualism believe people can not be part of something greater than themselves. But you yourself are not a bag of items separate from the world. Your genes you got from your parents, and your thoughts you almost completely got from the world around you. You ARE your genes and your memes. And you are part of those genes and memes as much as they are part of you. The "I" or the concept of an ego is an artificial boundary between a list of things (e.g. your brain, your body, your thoughts and memories, your possessions...) and the rest of the world. It is useful and necessary but it is also like sectioning off a portion of the sea with invisible borders and claiming the waters do not flow in and out of that section.

Russians can rightly be proud their ancestors spearheaded the space race. Americans who have not actively turned the American enterprise and legacy to **** , can rightly feel proud their white ancestors for the principles they fought and bled for and some of which they instilled in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution. Black people can rightly be proud their great artists promote drugs & crime.

Some human races rise to a calling greater than an animal state of existence. Thus they become part of bigger than themselves. The inferior races wallow indefinitely and with no end in sight in an animal state of existence, never moving forward, never inventing anything.

Only a person who has no nation, nothing greater than him to belong to, whose race has never invented anything or contributed anything positive to humanity would believe this. Only a person who is jealous of &/or alien to the nations and races that did contribute to humanity would say this.

Hispanics aren't that racist, most of us are just seriously not even trying to come anywhere near being politically correct. For us, acceptable nicknames for people include words like dwarf, fat, black, blond, Chinese (or whatever country u come from), etc. We also like nicknames a lot.

I was using racism much more loosely than it may appear. From my experience, as a Hawaiian Jew (Shalomha, bra), Hispanics are generally a very accepting people. If you can handle the banter you're alright by them. Also, in my experience, they love it when you try to speak their language, even if you can't. I play pick-up soccer games in a restaurant parking lot after it closes. The nickname given to me es "Gato". I figure they are either calling me a pussy or telling me I'm quick. Either way they seem to enjoy playing with me.

I think you are confusing the term hispanic with spaniard. Hispanics are generally a mix of different races (white, native, black, and in some places a little bit of arab and jew) and have historically disassociated from Spain, because most hispanic countries were once colonies of Spain. So it doesn't makes much sense to feel any responsibility about the killing of indians if most hispanics themselves have some indian in them, and if culturally they are not exactly spaniards.

Yeah but whites or caucasians have in the U.S generally have one or two very distant ancestor who were either black or native. That's about as mixed as it gets. The degree of hybridisation I guess that would be term is much greater in latin countries. I, for example, have black and native great great grandmothers, a german jew great grandfather, a spanish great great great grandfather, and I'm pretty sure there's an arab somewhere because my family comes from a region where a bunch of arab emigrated to, and we have some of their traits.

Mel Gibson was arguably the biggest and most beloved star in the world. He reigned in Hollywood from the mid '80's til the mid 2000's. Then in 2006 he said pretty much said just that.

Mel Gibson no longer has a career and is one of the most hated men in Hollywood.

FJ and a couple of anonymous sites is where people go to express themselves because they can't say anything in 100% of the real world, 100% of the MSM and 99% of the internet. I'm not just talking about expressing racist views, I'm also talking about having an honest, unbiased, uncensored debate which, in a sane society, would be happening on every mainstream media and with almost every one you meet in real life.

But you can't have honest discussion of issues on mainstream news channels because the rich and powerful own all the mainstream media. And you can't have an honest debate or discussion with real life people, even friends, because you can never know what will offend the person you're talking to, who will then ostracize you and seek to harm you. Not even with friends can you talk about all important subjects because exactly zero percent of other people on this earth share the exact same views as you on all issues. And when you talk about a sensitive or controversial topic, and you defend your views passionately (i.e. anything more than small talk) and the other person disagrees with you, you can bet your ass you'll no longer be friends anymore. IOW, the result is the same as talking to strangers and acquaintances, ostracism, hostility, animosity.

99.99% are actively ************ themselves, let alone others. 99.99% are in love with their beliefs. The truth is taboo.

I met a chinese guy a couple weeks ago, he was sunburned so he had orange skin, so I asked him if he spoke mandarin, he didn't like the joke but was ok, promised to stop making those kinds of jokes in front of him.

Same day, asked a girl if I could see the scars she had from her breast reduction surgery, she was fine with it and never said she was uncomfortable, went to the faculty for sexual harassment and nearly got me kicked out of college. She also mentioned the mandarin thing since she saw me make the joke, probably had something to do with it.

Yeha I've always felt, ever since it's introduction into lingua franca, that the term 'people of colour' is more racist than any specific racial slur used nowadays

Like only white people get to be distinguished, everyone else is "Oh, those people, the people of colour"

I'm a Kurd living in the Netherlands and i think even here in Europe the whole white guilt ******** is going too ******* far.

in fact, i would actually kind of understand it if European people were slightly racist (which they ******* aren't, not AT ALL) towards foreigners, because it is THEIR ******* COUNTRY.

actually, to top that off, i consider myself relatively racist towards Turks and (only overly extremist) Arabs. way more racist even than any white person i have ever met.

People come up with small talk and if you're offended by it you probably shouldn't talk to anyone. I've never come across microagression and was offended. I once said I don't think black or hispanic history months should even be months. I think it would be more effective to teach about everyone as you go through history in chronological order.

I'm Korean, but almost all of the racist hate I have received were from whites.

This being said, I do not hate white people because the good people outweigh the bad.

My best friend is white.
My wife is white.
My child is half white.
The family that took me in was white.

And they all love me regardless of my non-white skin.

You'll rarely see that with Asians, Spanish or black people.
