My friends explanation as to why he had been able to get submarines and why I hadn't

"Well you see... While you were researching such primitive and material goods as steel and farming, my civilization looked to the stars and saw a message from God himself, to build these submarines by only rubber bands and the hopes and dreams of every child within my nation. That is why, my friend, I am blowing up every exploration boat you send out of your little nation"

Only within a few round had he research the Manhattan project and brought about the final solution upon the Russian empire

None of that matters.
Not when we're all going to end up in a smoldering radioactive ash pile.

"Amazing!, now we can build WINDMILLS!"

Well because of the economic drive windmills allow corn to be ground easier (by the wind obvi) than by a horse or ox allowing the animal to be used elsewhere and increasing efficiency.

I have a level level 13 gattling gun stationed in said city that I've been using all game (logistics range and march so op, basically solo capped cities for most of the game)
kill off half of his units, he hasn't made a scratch in my city (86 defense and he's using units from the era before industrial, whatever it's called)
"the price for peace is 5 luxuries and 28 gpt"

40 gold ingame is actually about 40,000 gold or something like that.

Beyond Earth is going to be ******* awesome.

You know some guy is going to make WH40K, Starship Troopers, maybe a Halo mod, Firefly mod, etc.

>Not waging war and obliterating them by pillaging their fields until the concede their cities, luxury resources, gold and GPT.

When you have them in a vice grip, squeeze them out. You'll be known as a relentless and fierce foe. It goes a LONG way in Civ, especially in player vs. player games.

Maybe this is because we can't yet make a perfect recreation of our universe or because they are made to be beaten.

Only in civ can I play as the almighty Siamese race, send an army of elephant riders at Portugal and level it, then 900 years later send tanks and do it again

Warlord Gandhi and his elephant archer spam...

Isn't that just a condensed number? Because if you look in demographics under GDP, sometimes it will have a number in the millions, so 40 gold might just represent 40 million. However its just easier to say 40.
