Holy **** . Forgot I posted this. Thanks for making it my first successful post! Everyone got the joke and no-one assumed I was being an idiot. This is a strange day on FunnyJunk.

*sigh* The first creature isn't a chimp or any other modern ape, but the common ancestor to them and humans, which are extinct now. And to be nitpicky, there are only thousands, not millions, of chimps left in the wild, so this is a double fail by my books. If only these people could actually do some research instead of spewing ******** claims against evolution that are easily dismissable by anyone with a brain.

When every credible scientist and all the available facts agree with one viewpoint, disagreeing with it is stupid.

#33 to #28 - robuntu (10/24/2015) [-]
This is why FJ suck.

Stalini is 100% right - using phrases like 'every credible scientist' is a logical fallacy...and should be avoided. Because, in it's use, 'credible' will end up meaning 'Any scientist I agree with'.

You can read about it on Wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman

All hominids fill the exact same reproductive niche, homo sapiens fill that niche the best so they won the genetic arms race/

Ok before I even get started, you do know humans didn't actually evolve from monkeys right?
#41 to #40 - xerodeath ONLINE (10/24/2015) [-]
yeah i know that im just thinking there had to be some that were separated off and didnt evolve in he same way or stayed the same way or some ****

Scarcity of resources. Different groups are going to fight for the resources. The group that can't adapt to survive elsewhere is going to die. Another possibility is cross-breeding. They found traces of neanderthal dna in the european genetic pool.
This is assuming that the different species are coexisting in the same time. This doesn't usually happens. The useful genetic traits are eventually going to spread to all the population and accumulate through time. So if one particular group manage to not being affected by the change, there must be some obstacle that kept the group completely isolated. But no obstacle could stand in the way of Homo Sapiens.
User avatar #44 to #41 - justaperson (10/24/2015) [-]
We evolved from animals that would resemble a modern monkey but were not monkeys that we see today. And like the other guy said the in between stuff went extinct because that's just how evolution works. Survival of the fittest means that the ones that are most well adapted will pass on their genetic material and those that aren't won't. This continues to happen every generation for every organism. So as time went on one species would eventually evolve into the next and the species before would fade out because those traits that would be associated with that prior species would be less desirable and in turn bred out. Of course there tons of other factors involved and sometimes it wasn't always breeding issues that would cause a genus to go extinct but this is a generalization.
User avatar #47 to #34 - lolollo (10/24/2015) [-]
We do have the between species. Evolution progresses much like a numerical system, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 with each number being a distinct species between 1 and 4, but then there's all of the **** in between each number which represent the individual generations. Between 2 and 3 is all of the decimal points where 2.1 isn't quite 2 or 3 but 2 on its way to becoming 3. Then you get 2.9, which still isn't quite 3 but is sure as **** closer to 3 than it is 2.

It also explains why "but wheres the missing link!?" is an incredibly unintelligent argument against evolution. "Prove 3 is greater than 2!". 2.5 is greater than 2 but less than 3... "But prove 3 is greater than 2.5!" 2.7 is greater than 2.5 but less than 3..."but prove 3 is greater than-"

Unless you get a perfect family tree spanning millions of years back, you're not gonna be able to argue that to completion...and even then we'd be asked to prove how we know sons defended from fathers.

Humans didn't evolve from monkeys.
We evolved alongside them.
We evolved from a similar animal at some point in history.

If you are in africa an shout "he didndo nuffin", "muh dick" or "alahu snackbar", they come in hordes and try to breed with you - so be careful.

I am a Christian who believes in evolution, AMA
#55 to #53 - marioauditore (10/24/2015) [-]
You make it sound like that's uncommon, somehow. I've never met a creationist in my entire life.
User avatar #56 to #55 - kieranbaker (10/24/2015) [-]
I have never met a creationist either
#57 to #56 - marioauditore (10/24/2015) [-]
So my first question is: Do you believe creationists actually exist?
User avatar #67 to #57 - kieranbaker (10/24/2015) [-]
of course, I doubt there are a whole lot but they are out there
#68 to #67 - marioauditore (10/24/2015) [-]
But how can we be sure, I mean...this could be just an extremely elaborate prank. I think that if creationism really exists that must be proof of the existence of God: How can somebody be that stupid without an intelligent design?

True, but then again I am pretty sure Jesus was against blind faith.

Fun fact: All other species of hominid were killed off by competition with humans, or other factors.
#22 to #15 - walcorn (10/23/2015) [-]
Also
Imagine this, but replace aboriginal with non-sapien and australian/irish/scottish with sapien.
Homo Sapiens had greater numbers (faster rate of reproduction and better survivability I guess) , and so the non-sapien numbers were reduced with each generation, as their descendants became more and more sapien through interbreeding
User avatar #23 to #22 - platinumaltaria (10/23/2015) [-]
Aboriginals, and in fact all humans with ethnicity are homo sapiens.

if the monkeys evolved then why are there still monkeys?

#52 - anon (10/24/2015) [-]
Just to be clear: Intermediate species are no longer with us as each generation becomes better at collecting a limited resource. Those less adapted produce fewer offspring.

(cant say "this is how it happened" but it is a defensible theory)

There WERE millions of early ape.
And there ARE millions of man.

The monkeys and apes you see today are not close to us, but slightly similar.
The same reason there are still wolves when dogs descended from them.
