I think OP meant mindlessly, mostly because blindlessly is not a word.

Am I the only one who realizes "blindlessly" isn't a word? I think you were going for "mindlessly" or "blindly".

****** parents. I grew up around a lot of cartoon violence (Tom and Jerry, Wiley Coyote). It was my parents that made sure I turned out alright.

Or because they're kids, and children have always been known for being violent ******** .
User avatar #73 - tronbot (11/28/2013) [+] (2 replies)
um. no.
Children are violent because they haven't developed an empathy for others yet. They don't realize the pain they're causing others, because they don't feel the pain themselves. The media isn't the cause of all of society's problems, shocking, I know.

There is actually some truth to this. One theory (with quite some evidence to back it up, though I can't seem to actually find the article right now) suggests that the difference in violent crime statistics between Japan and the U.S. can be explained largely by the difference in movies consumed by the populations of the respective countries. Certainly the amount of violence is about equal in both - however, the consequences are portrayed more realistically in Japanese film. Fights are shorter and generally have more deadly consequences for the characters, while in American films the characters can hit each other for half an hour without more than a few drops of blood being spilled and then everything's okay. The theory is that this discourages violence in Japan, but encourages violence in the U.S. and other western countries that consume a lot of American film.
