It's interesting to think since it's computer generated they can just do that. Maybe in the distant future when all anime is computer generated 4kids can actually replace rice balls with jelly donuts.

i don't understand how kids hate broccoli, i loved brocolli when i was a kid and i still do. My only theory is that it's a a widespread and

Same. There was some food that I did hate as a kid Presssack for example, which I now love but vegetables never were a part of those - hell, I even did help my grandparents to sow and keep the veggies so we could get them fresh out of the garden.

Russia repealed sodomy laws in 1993; compare to the US (2003).

Russia made it illegal to expel someone from the military for homosexuality in 2003; compare to the US (2011).

Russians are generally more reserved in public; thus the sentiment against "propaganda" and marriage, but the idea that the US is progressive or that Russia is backwards is short-sighted.
User avatar #47 to #36 - icameheretotroll ONLINE (07/26/2015) [-]
no one said the US is more progressive about gays than Russia
most of europe, canada are more progressive than either of those countries in terms of Ghey rights
#39 to #36 - anon (07/26/2015) [-]
You referring to the supreme court decriminlizing it for the entire united states however 32 of the 50 states had struck down such laws before 1990. Russia also doesn't give a **** if you are discriminated against with an example of discrimination occuring as recent as 2013 when a teacher was fired for being gay. While I generally disagree with "hate crime" laws Russia has none which could be viewed as negative. Russia also passed laws making sure Homosexual propaganda could not be shown to minors, with propaganda being messages for equal rights and other benign things.
User avatar #41 to #36 - angelusprimus (07/26/2015) [-]
Article 6.21 of the Russian Federation Penal Code:

Propaganda is the act of distributing information among minors that 1) is aimed at the creating nontraditional sexual attitudes, 2) makes nontraditional sexual relations attractive, 3) equates the social value of traditional and nontraditional sexual relations, or 4) creates an interest in nontraditional sexual relations.

This is an actual law that states if you say gay and heterosexual relationships are equal you can be fined from 4.000 to 50.000 rubles.

Yeah, land of tolerance and equality Russia.
User avatar #49 to #41 - therealtjthemedic (07/26/2015) [-]
Yeah, but 50000 rubles is worth like, a pack of peanuts and a bottle of Finlandia
User avatar #59 to #49 - mutzaki ONLINE (07/26/2015) [-]
Not exactly the point.
User avatar #69 to #41 - nazo (07/26/2015) [-]
Read 1, 2 and 4 too, because I think this is a really good law, and its only for kids, you can say the relationships are equal as long as you are not talking to a minor

Basically this law makes illegal trying to convince minors how good a gay relationship is, and they shouldnt worry about that, the only thing kids should know related to that matter is to tolerate and respect everyone
User avatar #86 to #69 - angelusprimus (07/26/2015) [-]
Yeah, but right now a bunch of police and judges in Russia interpret that law that just by saying that gays should have same rights as straights you are trying to convince people, thus children, that its equally good.
Its a bad law that gives huge free reign to the government, and leaves massive holes to exploit.
This law is bad because in its width and lack of clarity it leaves room for the government to wiggle out of enforcing those earlier articles.

I will agree that in 1993 Russia was more forward looking and more open than USA or even large parts of what's today's EU. (especially the countries like Poland then).
But 1993 it was Boris Yeltsin's government who passed it. Today different people are in power. For a reason Yeltsin was a disaster for Russia.
User avatar #87 to #86 - nazo (07/26/2015) [-]
Nice opinions

It doesnt have any hole to exploit, dont talk about homosexuality to children is that easy. Russia is not as closed minded as you think.
User avatar #88 to #87 - angelusprimus (07/26/2015) [-]
I've lived in Russia for three months and I'm going to say that area around Moscow is no more or less closed minded than any metropolitan area in the world.
You get out of urban areas and things are not that simple. I'm from Bosnia, things are pretty much the same. Urban centers and backcountry which considers urbanites decadent and weak. (its even worse in Turkey, that's like two different worlds there)
And there is a huge hole. You talk about homosexuality in ANY public space. And you get in trouble. Why? Because children might have heard you. If young homosexual people need help, information etc. You can't provide it. Its illegal. Private conversation on a train can get you arrested. Because child COULD have heard you.
But the worst part of that law is that it prevents people to even teach kids to tolerate, not respect, just tolerate the gays. Because even saying "Hey, gays are people too." to a minor you get arrested.
Its a bad ******* law.
User avatar #89 to #88 - nazo (07/26/2015) [-]
I get different stories from other Russians too, so I choose not to believe you. I understand russians arent exactly open minded, but come on.

Also, you cant force people to respect anyone. Toleration is all a stranger deserves.
User avatar #90 to #89 - angelusprimus (07/26/2015) [-]
You don't have to believe me. I'm not a Russian. I'm just someone who was there and observed whats going on.
And yes, toleration is all strangers deserve. But gays are not strangers. They are Russians. between 7% and 10% like everywhere else. And people fear and hate what they don't know. That's evolutionary. To a caveman what he doesn't know probably wants to eat him.
If you can't educate kids to tell them that "gays are people too. Russians too. Your uncles and neighbors and teachers and shop clerks" they will remain "other" and always hated and feared.
That's bad however you look at it. Because it means literally milions of Russians are hated and feared by their own people.
User avatar #93 to #90 - nazo (07/26/2015) [-]
You are telling me personal opinions and I have none, so yeah like I say I will stick to the others I heard until proven otherwise.

>But gays are not strangers

excuse me? gays deserve respect for being gay?
User avatar #94 to #93 - angelusprimus (07/26/2015) [-]
No.
They deserve not to be treated like bad guys. They deserve to be treated just like every other citizen.
Or they deserve to not pay taxes. Because if you are paying taxes, government works for you. And they don't have a right to treat you any way differently.
User avatar #95 to #94 - nazo (07/26/2015) [-]
Thats toleration
User avatar #96 to #95 - angelusprimus (07/26/2015) [-]
Yeah.
And my point is that Article 6.21 allows discrimination. You can chose to believe it doesn't. But there are people in Russia in jail who would disagree.
