I knew absolutely nothing about Future Diary when i stared watching it, i just stumbled across it when browsing tv links online. I had no idea that the anime was airing WHILE i was watching through the series. I finished watching the (or so i thought) on the second to the last episode, and a link to the next episode didn't exist.
I thought the anime ended with the ended from the second to the last episode Where Yuuki gets locked away in a fake dimension where all his selfish wishes are fulfilled to an exaggerated extent, and Yuno passes on to the next reality. To repeat the cycle forever. Imo, a much heavier ending than the real one. I was depressed for so long because i binge watched the series. It took up so much of my time. SO much.

My ex did much the same, leaving me in tatters so thin that I was admitted as an inpatient to a psych ward, but I never once wished evil on her for it. Sure, I questioned whether she had ever loved me, but I never felt that we could be together again, nor did I ever feel like she deserved pain. Though, admittedly, I did for a long time wonder if she ever did feel remorse over how she treated me.
