My cats come when called, never scratch or bite me, love to snuggle with me and even greet me at the door when I come home. My girl cat also loves to bring me presents from around the house. Usually whatever she finds interesting like wrapper, or a piece of cardboard. But one time she brought me a sterling silver necklace. I have no idea where the **** she got it.

Given that dogs see you as well, a larger dog, and the "Alpha Male" of the house, cats probably see you as a larger cat as well, however, feral cats(the kind you see in back alley's and parking garages), which are the closest "wild" relative to your domesticated cat are either solitary animals, or live in a colony, with no real form of government. So it makes they don't really give a **** what you think, and have a tendency to acquire their own food and water in addition to what you provide. They see you more as a room mate than a owner.

They care what you say if you say certain words though.

I don't care what anybody tells me, my cat knows exactly what's about to happen when you mention "food" or "ready?" She also occasionally comes home if you go outside and shout her name, but that doesn't mean anything to this debate, because it's a bit of a gamble.

"Ready?" means that something's getting thrown for her to chase.

Cats view us as larger cats. Which would explain their relative disinterest in us. Also remember eye contact is considered a challenge. A lot of their behavior is very engaging just not the way we are used to when compared to other humans or dogs.

It seems as though cats may not fully trust us and remain hunters...whereas dogs are all-in with us humans

My cat I've managed to condition into sitting and waiting to be fed, come when called etc. Cats are actually pretty intelligent and 9/10 does as he's asked!
