We know dude, but it's nice to think he might have a chance if he can hang on long enough.

I had the same exact thought.

If this really is true, and I hope it is. Cancer might actually become easily treatable.

ITT: People who actually believe this is a 'cancer cure'.
ITT: People who actually believe cancer is worth more money than a cure.
This is very early days research with no clinically valid applications or research. Even if it works with 100% success rate on all cancers it would be at least 10 years before it's approved for use.

>only downside is that it only harms pregnant women
>4 years wait time til testing on humans

It all depends on the human trials. A lot of things kills cancer in the test tubes, even peppermint extract (i think that's what it is at least). Things act very differently in the body.

but how is this different from all the other potential cures we've found?
User avatar #18 to #17 - supahsayin [OP]ONLINE (10/17/2015) [-]
From what I know, the reason we still have cancer as a big problem is that every person with cancer might need a different treatment. This, at least so far, in mice, has had about a ninety percent success rate when used to treat various types of cancers. Feel free to look this up more, whether or not it turns out to be the smoking gun of cancer. I'd rather be proven wrong than thought to be correct.

Also, certain forms of treatment themselves can **** you up. The one posted below talking about modified HIV cells can cause something called a "Cytokine Storm", which is potentially fatal by giving breathing difficulties and damaging organs.

They actually have a lot of different forms of these pathogen cures for cancer.

Like the one where they modified HIV to fight cancer: www.theweek.co.uk/health-science/61311/how-modified-hiv-cells-are-being-used-to-treat-cancer

It won't be released. Pharmaceutical companies can make much more money by making a treatment that you have to take multiple times, rather than a cure that you take once.
User avatar #22 to #10 - SoulCaster (10/17/2015) [-]
If a cure is found it will be released. They would mostly likely make it significantly more expensive and it would make them an absolute **** ton of money.

This **** is spooky, cause my AP Government teach is kind of a conspiracy theorist, and he said something like this a few weeks ago. "Either there already is a cure for cancer, or there's going to be one real soon."
#7 - scruffyguy (10/17/2015) [-]
This **** wont be cheap. Do you know how much money people make off of cancer?
#6 - anon (10/17/2015) [-]
Oh god damn it I've done 24 rounds of chemo and a bone marrow transplant and Now they figure this **** out
