MAYBE West of Ontario. Eastern Canada has serious issues with Coywolves (half Coyote and half Wolf hybrid). They are larger than regular Coyotes, are not overly cautious of humans and are known for their aggression towards hikers. In Nova Scotia we have a bounty on them. If you show up to a Department of Natural Resources office with a pelt, they will pay you $30 for it.
he said he was in BC. I'm from Alberta and spend a lot of time in BC, they are generally pretty timid but every now and then you get a few that are really brazen and pull this **** . campers get their dogs taken right out of their sites sometimes, that's when the culling starts.
I love Coyotoes, I think they're majestic creatures. But at that point I would've made a distinct act of aggression to get it to run, including shooting it if needed. Those behaviors MAY have looked cute. But, sadly, those are priming behaviors before a strike.
