There's two types of definitions of a word. One is the "denotative" meaning, or the original meaning of the word. The other is the "connotative" meaning, or what the word has come to mean over time.

So the definition you provided may be the denotative meaning, but in (more) modern parlance, scallywag is used more along the lines of scamp.

connotation is actually the tone that the word is used in, such as how outrageously has a negative connotation, whereas super has a positive connotation, even though they have similar definistions. It is about how they are used, not definition. Both of those were denotative meanings, one is just the root.

yeah well, in tumblr it really matters. I don't know if you heard about the girl who drew some cartoon fanart. well some people thought she was being "problematic", claimed that she was whitewashing and feeding racist stereotypes I checked her entire gallery, she didn't do those things, at least not on purpose. they really just nitpicked everything. and being anti fatty.
anyways, tumblr made a dozen of fake profiles of her and accused her of all of these things, took her info and bullied and pranked her so she tried to frag herself because it was too much.

zamii is just one example. it's not the first time tumblr has managed to get people harassed to move out or lose their jobs.

offending is big business in tumblr.
that's why the only thing I do there is watch porn and post my work. in the past I got into a bit of trouble myself too, because I was pro gg when the whole thing was new. nothing too big went down, but I got cold feet when my other blogger pal got attacked and a few people had noticed my pro gg stance, I wasn't full retard tho. I deleted everything and my blog and started a new one. why I use tumblr? I need some place to get coverage to my work, and as much as I hate the interface and the userbase, I acknowledge that tumblr is very powerful in getting some attention to your work. in dA you will often drown in the white noise, especially if you're a 3D artist.

You may be right. I thought "homo" meant "human" or "person" (as in homo sapiens - "wise person"). But there is such a word as "homogenuous". Turns out, "homos" in Greek means "same". But the word still doesn't make sense ("fear of same things"?)
Apparently a LGBT historian suggested using "homosexophobia" instead
