Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, Hearths of iron III, Those are the games that i solely posses, spanning from 860 to 1945 itself a self-contained gem of pain and suffering... a monumental achievement to play hundreds of hours.
Reforge the world from Simple feudal beginnings to the mighty Nazi war machines.
Paradox Gaming i salute you for the best years of gaming i ever had.
Truly a Grand Strategy Game.

I love these games, they are so good. The only reason I think they're not more popular than they already are, is because it takes time to understand what you're doing. I think I played 4-5 hours of tutorials before I understood CK2... Most people don't have that kind of time.

I bought Crusader Kings II on the steam sale but... It is just too complicated for my simple mind

I'm used to simple Total War games

Look up Quill18 and Arumba on Youtube, they should at least get you started.

Don't feel blue my friend, it's not easy, but you must always understand it's not a war game, it's a Dynasty simulator in the feudal age. War is just a part of it... roleplay.. have fun. If you want an extra incentive download the Song of Ice and Fire mod and play with your favorite Game of Thrones Dynasties... be the brilliant Tywin or the elusive Bravosians and the Savage Drakkari.

It's actually really easy to get a grasp of once you understand a bit of the era's background, the history, the interface and your objective.

IMO, get the DLCs for it too, that will enhance the gaming experience. And watch some lets plays on youtube or something, that's how I go passed the complications, that and ******* around in the game.

There is no worse feeling than conquering nearly the whole of both Pommerania and Lithuania as Poland, then looking west to see that Castille inherited France, and every time there is a secession crisis, the HRE grows by at least a duchy. I should have stayed in Poland and swore fealty to the Kaisar.

I can think of something worse xD, creating the great Norse Empire only to beshaken to bits by the Reformation of the faith while at the same time the Byzantium wich formed the New Roman Empire declares a Holy Crusade against you... so many hours of play down the drain when facing a Holy Army of 70.000 retinues....
