Well the property is more of a physical separation.

It's physical and artificial at the same time.

As opposed to checkpoints

Oceans are opposed to checkpoints?

that property is artificially his. I could say it's mine. the law disagrees, but the legal system is merely a perspective.

The walls are an obstacle through perspective as well. I could back a truck through his wall or pry his door open.

If you don't have a key you'd have to put some effort into getting in.

even with a key you'd have to put some effort getting in.

One day you'll fall down the stairs and it won't have been an accident.
User avatar #11 to #10 - lebarricuda ONLINE (7 hours ago) [-]
Every time stairs are being used the person is in a controlled fall.
Everyone falls down the stairs and only rarely is it ever an accident.
User avatar #12 to #11 - theism ONLINE (7 hours ago) [-]
I'm going to learn your name and push you down the stairs.

You've obviously never opened a door with a shotgun.

Minimal effort required to claim his property as my own.
User avatar #16 to #15 - theism ONLINE (3 hours ago) [-]
What if he has a shotgun on the other side?
User avatar #17 to #16 - SteyrAUG (3 hours ago) [-]
He wouldn't, because guns kill people. If he thinks borders are petty then murder definitely isn't on his list.
User avatar #18 to #17 - theism ONLINE (3 hours ago) [-]
I would say killing someone who just shot your door open falls under self defense.
User avatar #20 to #18 - SteyrAUG (3 hours ago) [-]
I would say that anyone who redistributes someone else's property while that someone is home is risking such a thing.

I'm sorry Neil, but if everyone could go anywhere they want at anytime, all the good places would be taken over by ****** people, until it became a ****** place, and they'd move on to the next. Until a good place, put up borders, to keep that from happening.

Come on Neil, this is simple stuff, it's like saying "imagine if the world had no religion" then someone would make one. "imagine if the world had no borders" then people would make them. Although the borders are more out of logical necessity. Although you get my point. Borders do not exist out of hatred, or anything such as that.

They exist as a human filter, nothing more. It keeps the rotten people of this world from turning the entirety of the world rotten. It would be more productive to talk about how we can make borders more effective, but to say their existence is stupid, is in every way, without a doubt, the most idiotic thing you have ever said, Neil.

This sounds very wrong, as if there is no such a thing as nations that are equally **** .
Or as if all members of certain nations are **** .
Or as if, say, chavs aren't a thing in an otherwise "good nation" and Cuba doesn't produce some of the best doctors in the world despite being a ******** .

Nations aren't a human filter, that's the stupidest thing in the world. They're an "us" filter. They define people who feel close to each other and decide to live in the same community with more or less same lyfestyles.
User avatar #24 to #23 - ohhh ONLINE (2 hours ago) [-]
Okay i'll admit, it is more right to say borders are filtering what that nation deems as a bad person out. But, do you not want that? Would you rather everyone from lets say the east go in mass immigration to anywhere they please? No, it would be complete chaos, borders allow for order. You keep your life style and culture there, we keep ours here. Let's see which one does better in the long run. And no, we can not just mix all cultures, as some are barbaric at best, and are simply incompatible with most, if not all first world nations. Eventually people would grow to hate each other, to want a "place to themselves". And eventually, borders, or something akin to them, would be made again. It would be nice if everyone could go anywhere they please without a care in the world, but this isn't a fantasy world. That simply would not work.
