American soldier of unknown unit is providing suppressing fire with his M240 light machinegun while an A-10 Thunderbolt "Warthog" conducts strafing runs with its GAU-8 Avenger 30mm rotary cannon.
The high steady hum that you hear like someone ripping a fart is the A-10's 30mm cannon firing at 4,200 rounds per minute, with rounds moving so fast you hear the impact before the sound of the cannon firing. The mix of depleted uranium armor-piercing and high-explosive rounds has roughly the same effect on target as hitting it with a 40mm grenade launcher... 70 times per second.
I'm not much of a weapons guy, but **** that plane is amazing. The sheer fright of hearing that sound roaring from the sky like some ancient god of war during combat must be enough to make you literally **** your pants if you know that behemoth is not on your side.
Thanks to you and KoCChampion. I actually thought so, but I'm not familiar enough with the 240b and I know both are widely used, so I didn't want to assume.
