To be entirely honest, I´m not a bit sad about the death of Kurt Cobain/Nirvana. I think they´re damn over-rated and the fact that Nirvana seperated gave birth to the Foo Fighters, which are, imo, a way better band.

i don't like the majority of nirvana's songs any more, bar a few with a special place in my heart. but when i was a teenager growing up nirvana's blend of anger and angst totally gobbled me up and i was a die hard fan, i had every b side and or alternate recording of everything they did and they really spoke to me back then. i realize now their not exactly the best there is but for those few years nirvana really helped me what it meant to leave the saftey of childhood into becoming a man. if even only one person in the world gets a similar experience from beibers music is it really such a bad thing?

There are plenty of well-written Nirvana songs with meaningful lyrics. They're simple, sure, doesn't make them bad.

They're not bad, but they're not good either. They're good enough if you're sitting in a broken down car and have nothing better to do, but otherwise they have nothing any other band couldn't offer.

They had plenty to offer that not all bands can pull off. They had a lot of underrated lyrics, that were at least somewhat subtle. Nothing bothers me more than when a ban d just smacks you over the head with the lyrics in a completely straightforward fashion. But doesn't matter, were arguing opinions anyway.

Lyrics are all well and good; they wrote for kids in their teens, so they're obviously stupid and superficial. But they're fairly good at that sort of meaningless rebelion and fake enthusiasm that goes along with the apathy of a youth that likes to pretend they have everything figured out. Thing is, if the best thing you can offer are lyrics, get out and become a poet. Music is for singers and players, the lyrics are nice but before that comes melody and rhythm and that's were Nirvana dropped the ball hard.

An overrated band isn't talked about nearly twenty-five years after the release of their first album. You don't care for them, fine. But, they are anything but overrated.

Considering something overrated is an opinion. I am simply saying that their impact on this Earth has not dissipate twenty-five years after the release of their first album. Believe what you will, but anyone that knows music will tell you that they were a incredibly talented force that burned out far too soon.

You think. There's no basis for your opinion. Nirvana is a award winning, chart-topping, critically acclaimed band. Saying that you "think" they receive too much praise is your opinion, yes, but it is a foolish one, supported by nothing.

Justin Bieber is an award winning, chart-topping, critically acclaimed artist.
Being good and being popular are two entirely different things. I've already said Nirvana was good.

I think you need to look up the definition of critically acclaimed.

And, you're right. Being good and popular are two entirely different things. When you're not very talented, but very popular, that popularity is usually short-lived. The Backstreet Boys, Jonas Brothers, etc., had their 15 minutes of fame. When your music is still being talked about a quarter of a century later, then maybe you were doing something right.

Go look up reviews for Bieber. You find mostly positive stuff.

If you know they're different, why use products of popularity to show that they're good? All I've said is I think look at that "I" there, that means it's an opinion they're overrated. Yet, you've said I'm wrong. Opinions are not wrong. They are not right.
