I remember in high school girls would send them to boys they liked in hopes it would get them to be their boyfriends, when it almost always resulted in the guys sharing the pictures with all their friends. I saw my first boobs that way.

Personally, the only nude picture I've been sent was from my current girlfriend since we're apart from the holidays and she got crazy drunk/horny on New Year's. I enjoyed it, but pictures are really only necessary for when we're apart for several weeks.

Most girls are willing to share nudes if they're attracted to you and you're not pushy / asshole-y about it. But most guys have a hard time not being pushy / asshole-y about it, honestly. As for in relationships, in my personal experience, damn near every girl is willing to let you take pictures / videos if you agree to keep their face out of it and don't get pushy about it.
