I haven't the slightest clue why everyone in the chat is so god damn obsessed with repeating RUINED, SAVED, RIP DEVIL it isn't remotely funny. but thats twitch chat for you...
Twitch is, unironically, one of the freshest place for OC and (in)-jokes memes currently on the internet, and even more uncharacteristically most of the jokes don't leak out to elsewhere because they only work in the context of a livestream, it's all a very tight contained community.
And this is coming from someone who doesn't really participate in the cancer. Recently most of the internet has been running the same jokes to the ground, so I appreciate that there's a part of the internet that has a large, but almost completely unique community. Obviously it's not the only community with such a trait, but it's the biggest one I know.
Also it's by nature quite similar to how 4chan used to be before archives were popularized.
You have to actively participate, be there on the spot, if you really want to partake in the community. Of course highlights and such will always be uploaded, but if you want to participate, you have to be there.
Like, Funnyjunk, or 4chan these days, you can just kinda idly lurk around and it doesn't matter if you're "late", you'll catch up and figure out things on your own, but if you want to be up to date on the Twitch community you have to be at the right place at the right time.
that **** gets old REALLY fast. and it FLOODS the chat. no time or space for anyone to see or post any original humor. just a bunch of kids spamming nonsense because they see others doing it and then they all giggle
It depends on the chat. IF you watch someone like Krip or Forsen then yeah good luck with standing out. In those cases if you really feel like being witty then you gotta donate.
The marathon attracted a lot of people who regularly wouldn't use Twitch much at all, based on my twitter feed and various news articles.
Upholding a constant 30k-50k viewers for the entirety of the marathon, and finale peeking at around 180k; it was an internet phenomenon, comparable to "twitch plays pokemon".
To say that half of the people watched it "ironically" is ludicrous. I am certain that most people watched it because it's a great show and absolutely perfect "background noise".
Bob Ross was always there for me when I grew up as a poor kid in NY. My parents had to constantly work so we could eat, and my sister was a drug addict and never around, but he always gave me something nice to see every day. Now 20 years later my mother tired to kill herself after her and my dad got divorced, I might lose my job, and my girl left me, and here come Bob, back to give me a smile.
The man has been dead for 20 years and he's still making my life a little brighter. Few people alive deserve the title of saint as much as him.
Man, I'd love to have one of Bob Ross's paintings in my bedroom. Just looking at one of those paintings before going to sleep would leave me with nothing buy happy thoughts.
I would say I am in a similar state as you. I have pretty ****** motor skills, but I also really wanted to be able to create the cool images I have in my head. I thought it was pretty much out of reach until I found 3D modeling.
It is significantly more in your head and less in your wrists.
I've been doing it for about 4 years, off and on, and I feel I'm gettung pretty decent at it.
This something I finished a couple months ago.
The program I started with, and am still using, is called Blender. The best part is, it is entirely free. You can get it here: Blender.org
Every ounce of knowledge I have, I picked up from online tutorials. Learn to praise the name Andrew Price.
