See, I don't get how people believe this whole "natural talent" BS.
I mean, let's take learning an instrument for example. How the hell can one be "naturally talented" at that? Playing an instrument isn't a natural trait. No one came out of the womb playing a kick-ass guitar solo. The reason people like Jimi Hendrix and Keith Moon and Flea became masters at their instruments is because the PRACTICED LIKE A ************ EVERY DAY and put their heart, soul, and mind into it.
Sure, there are some things that require some form of genetic combinations (like height in basketball) but if you look at the story of Louis Zamperini, you'll notice that he had asthma and was like the ********* runner at first, until he pushed himself to his most extreme limits and became a ******* olympian. Louis CK, before becoming ridiculously rich/famous, was, at one point, struggling to pay his rent. But the dude put in hard work and look at where he went.
My point is, the only way to become successful is to never settle for less. But more importantly, do the things that you love doing. You will NEVER be good at something you dislike doing. But if you love something enough and you put in the practice, you will inevitably become good at it no matter how much you sucked in the beginning.
...or at least I hope that's how it works.

Really, when I think "Talent" i think it's just merely one's ability to learn something and get proficient skill.
Practice is still needed, but some techniques may click rather easily.

but the problem is, that everything is so awesome.
Lifting weights, cardigo, playing guitar, harmonicas, drums, programming, art, poetry, crapentry, blacksmithing and ********* of more but so little time.
Still what you said has truth in it, thanks strangah!

It's from Tenacious D and the pick of destiny if I recall. It's the pick that came from the devils tooth and could make the user a guitar expert/god, as it went in the movie.

Also cool, but thought that these are home made, and also thought that those aren't even picks since they seem a bit bigger than normal picks and wooden to me

Talent is simply figuring something new out a little bit easier than you're supposed to.

Actually, the same definitely applies to Mozart and Beethoven. If you've read the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, you'll see that this phenomenon applies to just about every successful person.
"Every composer, without exception, composes for at least 10 years until they write their master work. Mozart was composing at 11, but he was composing garbage at 11"

Being able to compose at 11 is still unusual and thus requires natural aptitude.

Not really. Beethoven and Mozart just happened to study music theory at that age. It's like playing an instrument. It's easy to do it badly.

I once hung out with a friend who was working on homework from her French class. She would have been about 12 at the time. She started speaking with a French accent and say "I can't help it. My ancestry is French on my dad's side." I wanted to ******* punch her.
